so i am going to try this with eden.

Has anyone else tried it, got any thoughts they want to share with me...

so far she has tried banana chunks, dried apricots, pasta, bread, seaweed rice crackers, carrots. she really loved the banana till it got too slippery to hold anymore.

Yep, that's what I've done with my boy - it's been great. I don't think there's anything he hasn't eaten...

I actually gave banana still in its skin in the early days, cut into thirds - he'd get his gums/teeth into the flesh and eventually leave the skin behind.

If you want to know more feel free to pm me.

I had to google to see what you mean but that's pretty much what we did (I just didn't realise there was a special name for it).

That's a good tip with the banana monster.  I'd love to hear how it goes BIzzy.

Me to!! lol, I did this with DS2 and he is such a great, non fussy eater. DS1 I made mush for him an he's quite fussy. Whether that's a direct result of the different styles of introducing food or simply different kids (and they are very very different boys) I'm not sure but I found although it's messier doing baby led feeding they're more competent an independent from an early age. I used to get numerous comments from mums about how great DS2 was at feeding himself an it's just because he was allowed.

I will certainly be doing this with DD, good luck
