Hey all,
I went to my midwife today, and I am measuring small for my dates. Last week I was measuring just under 36cm at 37 weeks and this week, at 38 weeks, I am still measuring the same.

I am going to have a scan tomorrow, but being the worry-wart that I am, I have got myself a bit stressed about it.

Has anyone else experienced this and all been ok?

My midwife said if there is any problem with amniotic fluid or the placenta they will induce me. I am a bit scared!

Just be thankful he isnt measuring bigger than your dates lol

I am no help whatsoever, but just to let you I measured 2-3 weeks AHEAD the whole way through my pregnancy and only had a 9lb baby, not the 11lb wopper they told me I was having!!

I wouldn't stress, your bubs is just about fully cooked, so you might just meet him a little earlier than anticipated!!

Good luck!

I measured small the whole way through, DD was a smaller baby, 5 pound 12, but i never got to 36 cm so you're already larger then i was. DD had no complications or issues because of her size and i had only put on 9 kilos for the wole pregnancy, some people just carry differently.
One of the girls in our AN class had a baby 3 weeks early due to placenta caused growth problems. The baby is absolutely perfect. Just small.
Whatever happens you are so far along that whatever needs to be done the baby is able to cope.
Good luck with everything

Mine never got passed the height for 34 weeks but it turned out I was just carrying very low (the bonus being my pushing time was just under 11 minutes!). When they scanned me before induction they couldn't even see her head!

She was born 6 pounds 2 but 100% healthy and happy.

My waters broke and I didn't have Spencer for another 3 weeks, if they think you have leaked water then they will give you oral antibiotics and some instructions on what you can and can't do, i.e no sex, not to use public swimming baths etc and you will need IV antibiotics when you go into labour but they won't induce you just because of that. They may do bloods as well to check for signs of infection and you would probably be monitored closely until you go into labour.
Good luck, Spencer was born at 38 weeks and was 6lb 2 and as healthy as, fed like a demon and packed on the weight no trouble at all.

Oh and so you don't get freaked out by it at the scan they will probably check the heart over quite thoroughly but that is just something they do when you have a later scan, they aren't doing it cos they think something is wrong with the heart.

I was measuring 2 weeks behind for most of my pregnancy and went on to have a 9lb6 er. I was worried every time she measured after always being ahead with no#2, my mw never worried (although she didnt worry about my iron either and I ended up in hospital a week before with iron levels way too low for comfort) My mw said it could have just been the way I carried.
The thing they do watch for is consistancy, I'm sure you'll be fine, you are soo close to the end! Good luck with your scan tomorrow! At least you know you will be in good hands

technically you are at full term now...anywhere from 38 wks, so it should all be fine if you do need to be induced.

Rhi was a IUGR baby and she did great....im so excited for you, wow i cant believe it wont be long until you are holding your little boy.

And remember you were super tiny even before you got pregnant as well!

My friend was exactly the same as you, small before hand and small all through her pregnancy and her doctor said same sort of thing to her.

Both her wee girls 1 year and 5 weeks are doing super!

Not long now at all to go for you! So exciting good luck x

Well you have probably had your scan by now but I just wanted to let you know that I was told I was small for my dates at around 37-38 weeks and was sent for a scan. I was worried, but when I went for the scan everything was fine! Baby was bigger than average and was born at 40 weeks weighing 7lb13.

Your measurements can vary depending on who takes them and how baby is lying that day. So don't worry!

Just got back from my scan.... and you guys were all right! Things are looking good, with fluid volume ok and the placenta working well.

Measurements are a tiny bit behind in dates (talking days rather than weeks), so nothing to worry about there. Weighing 3.4kg at the moment, so should be a good size by end of next week. I'd like him to not get too much bigger!!!

The only thing the sonographer mentioned is that there seemed to be a lot of "debris" or "floaties" in my waters. She said sometimes they see that if there has been a bleed, but I haven't bled at all. She said it might be because I have had the flu for a week. I guess my midwife will discuss this with me.

Spent ages doing the scan as there was a student sonographer as well... so I feel like I have had a good looking at! I can't believe how they can tell what all those grey blobs on the screen are.

Oh, and there was no question about the dangly bits!

Wow 3.4kg is a good size, Spencer was 2.8kg at birth, so sounds like nothing to worry about size wise.

Not sure about the floaties but sure you midwife will know what they are.

Wow 3.4 is good, that's what Jack was when born at 40+3.

Yeah I was going to say I'm surprised they sent you for a scan as they generally don't worry about it unless you're 4w+ behind/ahead. Jack became IUGR in utero from 34 weeks (crushed his placenta) and I measured 4-5 weeks behind for the rest of my pregnancy until he moved again and grew more at 38 weeks.

Glad all is well and that you're DEFINITELY having a boy (now that would have been a shock if you found out differently now!)

Glad all is well
I was measuring all over the show for the last 10 weeks, but Hannah came out beautifully at 3.3kgs at 39w+6d, so I reckon your wee boy will be an absolutely perfect wee bundle
Good luck!!

Oh I wish I had been on later last night!! Briona was my "small baby". We went back for growth scans two or three times in the last 5 weeks of my pregnancy. I had been measuring behind the whole time but as she dropped, I had periods of 2-3 weeks where my fundal height didn't seem to change. The scan pics said she was probably average though, but then at full term she was born 8lb 4oz - my biggest haha!!! It became quite a joke in the end.

I was going to say (before I realised your post was yesterday not today), that don't worry about the scan, you'll love being able to see a 38 week scan as opposed to a skinny 20 week scan. It feels oh so real!!
