I am planning on taking all my nappies and inserts with me to OZ when we go in 2 weeks for 2 weeks. I can wash them no problem over there (infact they will get a good dose or sunshine there) and it is going to be quite warm so Josh will probably just wear a nappy and a singlet or t shirt. And everyone knows a cloth nappy looks so much cuter with just a shirt on.

But we have 4 hours on the plane (that is after over 24 hours after we leave home too), would you use sposies for the time I am in NZ (and staying at someone place who uses cloth), or use cloth and pack the wet ones into checked baggage so we don't have to worry about the smell on the plane (other than the ones we use on the plane (all going well it is only one as I am stuffing it with heaps of hemp)??

I'd just take Friends bags for those, it will be so few. Try to get them packed into your luggage but you'll probably have a baby bag with change as hand luggage anyway so it shouldn't really get that smelly.

We went to Aussie last year and I took my cloth - it was really easy to wash & dry, especially in the warm weather, but I found it hard buying laundry powder while I was over there. I ended up going with an eco friendly liquid which left terrible residue on the inserts - I had to rinse them 6+ times afterwards to get the bubbles out!!! So I don't recommend going with liquid! lol

As for travelling - I always buy disposables to use on the days of travel so that I can have my cloth nappies clean & packed ready to use when we get to our destination, then I do the same coming home. I wash & dry them all before we leave so that I don't have a suitcase full of stinky wet nappies to wash when we get home. Each to their own though.

We start using disposables the day before we leave home so we don't have last minute washing to do.

I use sposies for the actual travelling, from the day before so I'm not leaving wet/dirty nappies.
