My boy is 11days old and I am just starting the cloth thing but am wondering about a night nappy as the nappies I am using currantly only last 3 hours maybe four.
I have been using disposables which will last a full night but they are very full by that time. What nappy would you recommend for a night nappy.

Wow, your little man can go all night without a poo? My newborns were still pooing at every feed at his age!

If you can't boost whatever daytime nappies you're using with extra hemp or bamboo then I'd recommend Designer Bums hemp fitted nappies, which I use overnight on my nearly 2yr old. I bought a bamboo booster to go with it and last him 12-14hrs no problems. It needs a cover over and is bulky, but it doesn't bother him at all. We use knitted wool longies over top as our cover (lanolized), or you can use a PUL, fleece or wool cover if you prefer.

Well by a full night I mean he does two feeds on the one nappy and no he does do a poo at every feed but if its not a huge one I leave it till the next feed. Bad mummy I know but most of the poo is absorbed by the nappy still and I rather he sleep. Its the poop absorbtion which is making me hold off on the night nappy at the moment.
I think I'll wait a little longer before I start the night nappy thing as it hard getting a nappy to fit him snuggly with his tiny legs.

just had to say that i think that is disgusting...

i always try and think how i would feel if i was an old person in nappies, and i certainly wouldnt like to be left sitting in my own poo! it certainly wont be healthy for him at all...

ew, I'm sorry, I agree with Bizzy - first it's really a good idea to get rid of the poo every time, not only is it much harder to clean off when it's been sitting there a while but you run the risk of giving him nappy rash

As to your original question - our boy is almost 8 weeks old and now only pooing every second day, and we've just made the transition to MCNs rather than sposies overnight. For night time we've got him in a Kushies fitted nappy (from Nature Baby) with a couple of booster liners and that does the trick, last night he slept 8 hours with no leakage.

(Although personally I don't recommend the Kushies during the day, they're too bulky and I much prefer our Snazzipants All-In-Ones just in terms of ease of changing.)

Hey first, if it bothered him he would probably cry, I agree with you, sleep for a new born is important, As long as he isnt getting nappy rash, (which I doubt he would be otherwise you wouldnt do it and he would cry) just make sure you using a decent barrier cream
My baby was changed mostly by nurses for the first 8 weeks of her life, but cant say I havent done it myself in the middle of the night
Do whatever works for you and your little one, dont you just adore them at that age! soo cute!! Congratulations!@!
