Thomas seems to be reacting to the change in his formula he has just gone 11 months and I was planning to move him onto cows milk at 1. Do you think I should move him on to cows or try another formula for the next month or so?

How did you do the transition and did you water the blue top down a bit?

We still haven't really made the transition. Our formula is cheaper than cows milk so don't really wanna switch. We give him 100ml of cows milk at lunch though and hes fine with that

We went straight onto cows milk when connor was 12 months as he wouldn't drink the follow on formula. He was fine with it but we already had him eating a lot of other dairy products.

Tyde hasn't liked milk that much anyway. He was on neocate for dairy intolerance as baby... he still won't take much milk...
what sort of reactions is he having?
has he reacted before?
gosh it' shard to work out what to do for our kiddos sometimes eh!!!

he has never reacted to dairy before or his formula. But they have changed it lately and ever since he has been spewing it up like the exorcist its horrible and he is miserable for it so i have cut it right out but the poor thing needs bottles. I just dont know whether to try a new formula or just brave cows milk a little earlier

hmm I would try the cows milk then.... say for a week and see what results there are... then you can decide whether to try a different formula.
So frustrating when these companies think they are making their product 'better' but it affects our wee ones.
keep us posted on how he goes :)
xx

SimoneF if it were me I'd just move to cows milk.   DS1 at 11 1/2mnths stopped drinking formula, just refused it but would drink cows milk and he's fine, no intolerances we know of.

Water's great and there's plenty of ways to get calcium into them excluding straight milk i.e. cheese, icecream, milkshakes i've got a great recipe for creamed rice (just half the sugar though as it's way too much) if you want

4 cups milk
1/3 cups caster sugar
10cm strip lemon rind
1/3 cup medium-grain white rice
2 teaspoons cornflour
1 tablespoon water
2 egg yolks
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine milk, sugar, and rind in large pot and bring to boil (stiring constantly), reduce heat and add rice then simmer for 40mins or till rice is tender. Blend cornflour with water, stir in egg yolks. Stir in a heaped tablespoon of rice mixture into egg mix then mix egg mix into rice mixture. Stir over medium heat till thick, remove lemon and add vanilla then stand for 15mins before serving.

What about trying the toddler formula???

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I phoned the Heinz help line and they advised not to use the toddler formula, saying that that was for a drink with meals not for use in bottles. to be honest i cant remember her rationale for that
She thought he should stay on the follow on formula but theres no way im going to continue to give it to him when he brings it all back up again, she said he would get used to the new changes after awhile! CRAZY
