Not happening after every feed but its enough to make me wonder how I will ever get anything done.

Brennan has his feed...I wind him for a bit then do nappies etc...Usually back down within the hour....

HOWEVER....sometimes he will just not settle between feeds...I am in and out and dummy in and out and sometimes its next feed time and he hasnt slept properly cause he is wriggling and squirming and seems to be in pain.....BUT WILL SETTLE happily if I pick him up..which I would love to do but also have other stuff to do! Ie get myself something to eat...get out of pjs....Oh and the other kids!!! LOL

Question is...

Would you leave him to settle himself down or pick him up????

Can you cuddle him until he is asleep then pop him down?

I spent the first three months of Isabelle's life carrying her around (thank goodness when I got a sling and my life could carry on normally)!

In saying that I didnt have other kids to worry about .. and I used to get up early to shower etc.

Once she hit 12 weeks or so .. she didnt "need" me anymore and seemed to be happy to be put down. Go figure

What happens if you leave him?  Does he just continue wriggling or does he get upset and start crying.  If it upsets him to stay down I'd definitely pick him up.

I second the use of a front pack or sling, mine was the only reason I managed to get anything done at all in the first few months.  You might find a bouncinette good too - handy if you're going somewhere you can't take Brennan, like if you need a shower.

maybe he just has a little extra wind hurting him. You could try raising the end of the cot

Hayley is the same at times and I'm thinking it is wind with her, so i get her up wind her, re-wrap her and try again. She also vomits a little at times, of course when she is in bed and that wakes her up again! I'm getting a sling for those unsettled times,(more often than not anytime between 5pm and 9pm) so I agree with the others, maybe you could try that?
Good luck

Kels I don't have any answers or experience but I just wanted to say I read your post, sounds tough but I'm sure you are doing a fine job. I hope it all settles down soon for you. Having more than one is such a big adjustment.

Go check out the Due August 08 topic for the baby of this week. You were asking for one of us to pop.

if hes squirming it could be wind or a dirty bum (if you changed at the beginning of the food as opposed to right before bed that is) so i might be inclined to try and wind hm some more... i also second maybe getting a sling or front pack of some sorts tho if you want to achieve more.

Have you tried putting him down on his side? If he's squirming, it might help his tummy.

I find Chiara settles fine during the day but in the evening she screams when you put her down. The first few evenings she did it I got her up every time she grumped and lugged her around the house, but then my m/w suggested leaving her to self settle coz she was getting overtired so I thought I'd give her 5 mins to self settle then go in to her, within 2 mins she was out to it. Now we do that every night, seems to be only after her 4pm feed and her 7pm feed that she does it. I do make sure I have her over my shoulder for a good 10 mins or so tho before I put her down to make sure she isn't windy. And at this age I wouldn't let her go more than 5 mins.

I also agree with the sling idea, I have a Moby wrap which I've just started using and it's great, Chiara is safe from the gremlins but I am hands free to get stuff done.

I second the no more than 5 minutes thing for that age and also fourth(?!) the baby sling/front pack.
