for a 15mth old who is about 13kg? He may slim down a bit now that he has started walking though  . I want to try and sew my first pocket nappy
I have had a look on TNN and am not sure which pattern to use: Wee Weka Pocket size M to fit 1yr old Paddy Pants lg fitted/pocket another pattern??? ------------- Lindsey

No a sewer but my mum used the wee weka pattern and she found it really easy to use. Next time she made me some nappies we adapted the pattern just a bit. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

My mum also used the wee weka as a starting point when she made pockets for my sister - after a few goes she made her own adjustments and she says it would be pretty easier to make bigger.

Thanks ladies. May print both wee weka patterns (Sml/med pocket and Med pocket for 1yo) and compare those to my fitteds to see if there is much size difference ------------- Lindsey

i found the small/medium wee weka pattern to be a bit small for my girl... good idea to print and try both... thats what we did

I haven't tried the med, but Seb only just fits the Sml-Med now, and he's probably 12kg, maybe 85cm, nearly 2, and he's about an average wetter.. couldn't really fit any more stuffing in and have it go on. So... might fit a skinny babe till about that, and a chubbier one to maybe 9-10kg (just from my experience with weight ranges on naps) -------------

| I am no sewer but I have made the we weka ones. They are easy. I started with the S/M but am generous with my seam allowance and it turned out quite small. The next size up was big but I could still get it to fit my wee boy and I think it will fit for a while yet. I'd try that one |

Hi Linzy, i made the wee weka pocket ones too. We made up one sm/md as i thought my boy would be about the same size as Alia's boy Seb from looking at her photos. It would fit, but there was no way i could get any padding in for absorbancy. So we made the md/lg ones. They are really easy to make once you have made the first one or two. Despite time taken to cut them, we found they only took about 10-15mins to sew each. And mum reckons that it would be easy enough to just add a bit more length once we need to. I find they fit him really well altho he is on the tightest fitting. He is 2 next month but only weighs about 10kg. Has slightly chubby legs i guess? But they fit great. next time i will move the velcro as it is rubbing on him but we are going to try using wider soft velcro so that it's only one piece on we only use a little bit of the rough stuff. They are so easy to use! and look just like a disposable!-------------

I made the wee weka Sml/med pocket on the weekend and it doesn't look too bad. I bought some hemp terry as well to make some inserts (trifolds I think they are called) and will wait until I have made those and are certain that the nappy fits before making more. ------------- Lindsey

linzy, i tried that one on my son and it fitted, but i could tell i wouldn't get any padding in it. i guess it depends on the thickness of your padding & also the size of bubs, but yea, i kind of figured once it had a thickness inside it, it probably wouldn't fit. My son has slightly chubby legs maybe, but is really light. so yea, try it on him without the padding & see what it's like then again with the padding, you never do know until you try -------------
