I have a 8 week old, and I have committed to running a marathon on 2 November-eek!
Can anyone tell me if I can run with such a young baby? I am worried the vibration might be a bit much for her?
If I can run with her, can I have recommendations on the best stroller for the job. I will only be running around the streets and in Hagley Park.
TIA

as long as she is warm and has one of those head rest thingys i wouldnt think there would be a problem jogging, she might actually like the vibration so maybe doing it around her nap time could work in for both of you? as for the stroller, im not too helpful there, my MIL bought ours and its crap and i cant walk with it barely let alone run! maybe a mountain buggy or a phil and teds? i have heard phil and teds are fantastic.
good luck for your marathon, your better than i would be!

Mountain buggy or Phil n Teds would be good. Ours is a 3-wheeler, but its not that easy to run with.
I walked (and partially ran) the city2surf when Jack was almost 3 months, he was fine. In fact he loved it (the vibration got him off to sleep). Dh has run with him with no problems when he was little.

So long as the stroller is 3-wheels with the front wheel able to swivel, and has suspension, it'll be fine! You might need to use a storm cover over it so that the cool air rushing past baby doesn't get to be too much, since she's so young. Good on ya, by the way!

I second good on you! Will be great if she can sleep while you train - a win-win all around. Mountain buggies are great for jogging and like Andie said just make sure she is nice and warm. All the best with your training!

A three wheeled buggy should be fine. The track is probably worse than running as opposed to walking.
Personally I wouldn't put my body under that kind of stress if I'd just given birth. Also if you are breast feeding you may not be putting the energy into producing milk. I found day to day activity and a reasonable walk was enough for me 8 weeks after giving birth and I often had to have a lie down after lunch to build up the energy and milk supply for evening and night feeds.
Good luck with the run though.

thanks so much for all your knowledge, and also the encouragement. I will be looking into 3 wheelers so I can get into training.
