Lincoln has started waking at 5am every morning. Luckily I can feed him and he will go back down for another 2 -3 hours. Previous to this he was sleeping from 6pm to 6am without waking. Whats changed? Last night I tried puting him to bed at 7pm to see if he would sleep til 6am, but just like an alarm clock he woke at 5am again! I haven't changed his bedtime routine other than last night. I know I can't complain, but after a good month of getting plenty of sleep I am struggling with having to get up again. I can't feel any teeth, he is fully breast feed. We have a heater going in his room at night so he feels warm when I go to him at 5am. During the day he sleeps well and is happy when he's up. Any suggestions?

Maybe a growth spurt? Or perhaps you could start introducing a dream feed around 9 pm at night to stretch him out a bit longer? I was giving my son a dreamfeed right up till around 7 months and he was sleeping through every night.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried dreamfeeding Lincoln and he decided that it was nice so woke every 3 hours after that for a feed!!! Granted that was when he was about 2 months old though.

I agree, although it's very hard sometimes. I find it soo much worse when you know they can do something, like sleeping through the night, then go backwards than if they'd never done it in the first place as you're just used to it then

I was also going to suggest it could be a growth spurt. Maybe you could try a dreamfeed again. It might be good to try it tonight so that if he does wake 3 hrly tonight someone may be able to give you a break tomorrow if you need a rest.

I know Bizzy, I can't complain really but I was loving my 12 hours of me time and the complete nights sleep. I almost feel worse in the morning because I go back to bed for such a short amount of time, but it's just too early to start the day!

take him back to bed with you and feed him there and spend the rest of the morning cuddled together...

Ah ha, he was too hot. We put him in a cotton stretch & grow instead of his polar fleece one last night and he slept from 6.30pm until 7am this morning. And he's in a much better mood as a result!! Thank you for all your suggestions.
