or... did I just snap up a real bargin?

It's not even October yet (our month to start TTC) and here I am buying maternity clothes!

I just won an auction for an Egg denim skirt and paid $21 (incl p&p) I just couldn't help myself LOL

I just checked on their website and a new one is $120

I'm going with the "positive thinking" angle when DH finds out

Wow, that is a brilliant bargain.

I don't think you're nuts at all ...but then again I might not be the best judge.

  • We don't start ttc until Sep and I'm already ordering fabrics so I can start making cloth nappies.
  • Months ago I did a long range ovulation forecast
  • Yesterday I used the EDD calculater to work out my EDD if I get preg in Sep, Oct, Nov or Dec based on future ovulation dates (and have decided that I don't want to fall preg in Nov as the baby would be due on DH's birthday which he already shares with his sister and niece).
  • I've also worked out our budget for when I'm on maternity leave (in a year or so) including estimated WFF tax credits.
  • and yesterday I also wrote my wish list for the things I want to buy new this time around.

Do you think I might be a baby obsessed nutter?!

Umm, you are not alone in purchasing Mat wear prior to TTC. I may have done the same thing . I think one skirt is very restrained. I had my whole wardrobe before starting .

And one more to make you feel better - I have started purchasing again and we are not TTC until Dec.

P.S It is a bargain andthe Egg denim skirts are reallly comfy.

Jo, you're THE most organised person I know.

Those denim skirts are lovely
I think it's smart getting things organised before baby-brain sets in

MrsMojo - how do you make cloth nappies? I have a sewing machine and am tempted to make some if it saves us money. Are they easy to make?

I haven't actually started sewing yet but the patterns look pretty straight forward.  You can get free patterns from http://www.thenappynetwork.org.nz/diy.php - http://www.thenappynetwork.org.nz/diy.php  (scroll down to the wee weka and shars patterns).  You can get a DIY kit from http://www.greenbeans.co.nz - www.greenbeans.co.nz for around $20 and there's everything you need in there to make 3-4 nappies so I'm giving it a go and if I decide nappy sewing isn't for me I've only spent $20 and can then go and spend a small fortune on MCNs from other stores (cos there's no way I'm doing flats and overnaps again this time around).

Well we can be obsessed nutter together hun because I will put my hand up now and admit to doing everything mentioned OH THE SHAME!!!!

My excuse is that I'm a Planner by trade so I'm just applying my skills to my personal life That and I'm slowly starting to realise that I'm a total control freak! LOL

LOL.  I've been a control freak my whole life (my mum hated it when I was a toddler) I embrace it.  At least it's coupled with being super organised too.

I wish I was a planner by trade I might switch into that sort of career after the baby/toddler years.  In the meantime I will continue to organise things for my family, friends and workmates.

Hehe I already bought one maternity top too! (Well, I was 6weeks pregnant at the time... But it will come in handy very soon I hope!)
And thanks for those nappy links, I've saved them to my favourites, and as soon as I get that elusive BFP I'll start ordering!!
Oh and of course I've worked out my EDD if I conceive this month (15th March) - can't work it out accurately for future months as I am irregular and can ovulate anywhere from day 19 to day 31!

Bahaha! Me too! (not the due dates though as we'll probably be on fert drugs so who knows when that could be).

Peanut - I think you're *kind of* forgiven. Don't you work in a maternity clothes store if I remember rightly? So if you see a bargain, you just MUST snap it up. It's like the rule or something!

Emz, I "had" to open a maternity shop as my purchasing got kinda out of hand. It all started prior to even discussing TTC.

I sold my shop on the same day I had Mac so have no excuse for purchasing now, except that I have a wee obsession with mat wear. At least I don't have to hide it from DH this time

I don't know whether to be happy or not?!?!?!?

The skirt arrived this morning and is GORGEOUS so just for fun I tried it on and ...... it fits
OMG I only (only?!?!? pfft! ) weigh 75kg (10kg under last pre-preg weight).
It still fits just fine on my hips where it's supposed to be so at least that's a bonus as long as I carry fairly high up the same way I did with Caitlin.

Ahh well, looking on the bright side at least I'll get plenty of wear out of my bargin. I said to DH it'll be my "big dinner" skirt
