Generally Saturday nights at our place are movie nights and we'll try and watch 1 or 2 movies that night after Alyssa has gone to bed. The weekend just past we watched:
Shutter - Which is a horror flick much like The Ring or The Grudge..this was ok. It takes a lot of scare me these days and this didn't do it for me, but was still ok in that creepy strange Japanese style..
Gamers - We thought this was going to be about geeky computer gaming nerds (which DH and I are), but sadly it was about geeky Dungeons and Dragons nerds which is nowhere near as cool. Quite the B grade movie..
The Saturday before we watched Street Kings and Untraceable, so that was a much better weekend!
So what movies have you watched recently and what did you think of them?

Had a girls weekend away at Queen's Birthday and watched
Juno - after hearing lots of good things about it if found it one of those movies that left me thinking I wasn't quite sure what to think - didn't hate it but didn't love it either.
No Country for Old Men - so not what I thought it was about - reminded me of Pulp Fiction and had an ending that left me thinking what the heck?
Pursuit of Happiness - Nice feel good movie based on a true story.
On my "want to watch" list are
Bucket List
Knocked Up
Death at a Funeral
Licence to Wed
Going to see Sex and the City tomorrow night - can't wait!

We have 300 recorded ready to watch, but havent got around to it yet. Think its a boy movie....so I would need to be in the right mood!

Oh man, that movie had potential to be good, but ended up being so long for no real reason.
I really liked In Pursuit of Happyness.. thought Will Smith and his son did a good job.

oooh i like family man
Pursuit of happiness - i liked that too
I am legend - i liked even though it made me scared of the dark for ages... even when we went on the track and tunnel gorge walk this year mike kept waiting till we were in the really long long dark tunnels and going "watch out for the dark-seekers woooooo" I am sure he still has the bruises on his arm from where i kept hitting him and telling him to shut-up!
knocked up - i liked this movie.
superbad - not as great as i thought it would be
License to wed - made me realllllly angry, was supposed to be one of those funny movies, but just got me really p'ed off at the reverend - much like that film anger managment with Adam sandler
Heart-break kid - now that was funny. We were left walking round all night singing the little mexican ditty that kept coming through it.

Yeah lots of blood & guts and not alot of storyline.
My youngest watched 300 on Saturday night but didn't look like something I'd like. I haven't even watched Lord of the Rings - have tried several times but can't get through the first 30 minutes. But everyone else in my house loves those sort of movies. (Had to add that at first I thought you meant you had 300 movies recorded to watch - that'd take a while!)
Will add those to my list - what genre are they? I'm going to be watching this thread carefully to get some more ideas for my list - yay

Added to my list are The Love Guru and Blades of Glory . Feel like I've got a heaps of comedies lined up so drama or chick flick suggestions would be great. TIA

We rented this wekend and saw 'Cloverfield' which I really enjoyed although it's one of those annoying movies that leaves you with more questions than answers. And 'Sweeney Todd' which I also really enjoyed (very typical Tim Burton atmosphere etc), even if it a wierd story for a musical .

Last night we watched Prom Night (thriller)..wasn't too bad.. Also saw Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanamo Bay (comedy)...Had its moments although I think the first one was funnier.
Weekend before was Superhero movie which was funnier than I thought it would be.
Oh yeah, and for anyone whose a fan of Milo Ventimiglia (Peter Petrelli from heroes), I saw another one recently called Pathology which is a thriller. That was pretty good if you're into a bit of blood and guts..which I am :)

I've been watching movies for school
Little Miss Sunshine - loved it
Knocked up - loved this too - this was NOT a movie for school
City of Lost children - French movie I love
Also have bought
Bourne identity
Crash
donnie Darko (seen before and loved)

Lizzle - Crash is a great movie, I've seen it twice now. It's a really good one to make you think about racism - not sure if some of the language would be appropriate for school but would be a great discussion starter.
Well ended up seeing Get Smart and I had some really embarrasing snorting laughter going on. I love a bit of slapstick comedy and because it was one of those TV series I loved as a kid was having some awesome flashbacks.

Lizzle I was just about to post that I saw Little Miss Sunshine recently and loved it too!
I haven't seen much lately but the last movies I saw were the Bucket LIst (pretty good) and Drop Dead Gorgeous (really liked it). I want to see Sex in the City and Mama Mia but have to wait until they come out on video as there is no way I'm getting to go to a movie theatre any time soon!

We saw Death at a Funeral recently. It was pretty funny, well worth watching! Before that, we saw Heartbreak Kid and was a little bit disappointed in it actually. Not as funny as I'd hoped it was going to be.
DH is going to Australia soon for a work conference so I'm thinking I might go and hire all of those chick flicks that I've been wanting to see for a while! Fools Gold, PS I love you, I'm sure there's a couple more!

I loved Death at a Funeral.
This weekend we watched:
Run, Fat Boy, Run - great! But I love Simon Pegg and Dylan Moran. (Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are two of my all time favourites)
Bucket List - lovely. Funny in places, moving in others, just the right amount of entertainment for a rainy Saturday afternoon
I liked 27 Dresses and Jumper and I can't wait to see Juno.
I'm looking forward to SATC if we can ever get to the movies. Otherwise we'll have to wait for the DVD.
Get Smart and Hancock will probably have to be Waiting-for-the-DVD movies, too.

I loved Knocked Up so much we bought it on DVD. 27 Dresses was FAB too! Superbad was really not as good as I thought it would be.
Ooh Ratatouille! I haven't seen it but heard rave reviews. Bucket List has mixed reviews. I put that on my 'to see' list but crossed it off again. Same with Love Guru from what I've read and heard.

If you like stories with dancing, I recommend You've got served, I liked it so much that I brought the DVD and we've watched it heaps.
I recently brought 10 things I hate about you, I love that movie so much, and have already watched it twice since I brought it, I reckon I've seen it a total of 6 times it helps that it's got the gorgy Heath Ledger in it. RIP

We recently saw Fools Gold and wouldn't say it is a fav but it had Kate Hudson and Matthew Mc so it was definately good for a laugh (I love those 2!).
I ADORE 'How to Lose Guy in 10 Days'.

ooh a good movie with him and SJP in is Failure to launch. Total chick flick, but a good one.
We watched One flew over the cookoos nest last week, and (for the millionth time) blues brothers, I have got 28 weeks later to watch this week, plus 16 candles and risky business (love my 80s flicks).

So this weekend we watched Hancock, which I quite enjoyed, although I know a lot of people who didn't like it...
Also a thriller/horror kind of movie called The Ruins about a group of young adults who go and visit some ancient Mayan ruins.. That wasn't too bad either. I'm always glad when the movies I watch don't suck :)

Even I have watched this movie but indeed didn’t like it. I had seen some bad review on http://boriswolfman.co.il/%D7%9E%D7%99-%D7%94%D7%92%D7%99%D7%91%D7%95%D7%A8-%D7%A9%D7%9C-%D7%94%D7%A1%D7%A8%D7%98%D7%95%D7%9F-%D7%94%D7%96%D7%94/" rel="nofollow - Boris Wolfman blog; however having a thriller plot I thought it will be valued for money. But after seeing it, I agreed with its bad review on many sites. It is complete rubbish; no character has justified their role which made it funny rather being a thriller.

Some good movies I've watched lately are:
-Imogene -Second Skin(it's a documentary movie about online gamers and some of it on gaming addicts and the psychology of MMORPG) -Disconnect (it's based around the disconnect of people and different scenario's related to the internet. Not a true story, but quite a chilling reminder of how things can go from online encounters) -This is the end (comedy and so damn funny!) -Elysium -The place beyond the pines (psychological thriller)
