hi ladies
Im just wondering, for those who work part time, what hours and days do you find works for you?

I cant work out whether it will be better for me to work 3 Full days a week, or work 4.5 hours a day for 5 days a week.

If i work 3 full days i will need to have janaya in after school care (thats if i can find care)
If i work 5 days a week i will spend 1 hour a day travelling to work and back. Ive worked out that its not much more $ either way..

Im hoping my boss has good news for me on monday and i dont even have to worry about this at all. Working from home would be great!

I work 2 days (Wed & Fri) a week from 8.45 (drop off Ella off at her educarer at 8.30) to 3.45. I love finishing work at this time as it means by the time I pick up Ella and we get home it is around 4.20ish and we have time to have a little play together before she has dinner.

I work one day a week. I have to leave the house at 7.30 to drop Coop at his Grandmas and get to work by 8.30ish. I get back to pick him up at about 3.20 and by the time I've had a cuppa tea with the MIL and chat about his day I don't get in till 4.30. Dinner routine starts then and it feels like a total rush until he's gone to bed at 6.00.

I'd rather do 2 half days instead of a full day, however, that is way too hard in my occupation.

I used to work Tuesdays 3.30 til 6pm and Saturdays 8.30am til 12.30pm. In a couple of weeks I'm gonna be working 2 1/2 days a week (Mon/Tues/Weds) - the full days are about 8am til 4.30pm ish cos I'll do some planning/marking etc at home (teaching). On the half day I leave work at 12.30pm.

Hmm I don't know what I'd do if it was me... I'd probably do 3 full days, cos then I know I'd have 2 days just 'at home' chilling out. But then with having to put an older child into after school care, I'm really not sure. Actually if I was in your situation I think I'd probably do the 5 days, cos then I'd be able to spend more time with the older child as well.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do - hoping you'll be able to work from home though!

I work 11ish hours a week but its flexible (during work hours, at night or at weekends). That's hard too though cos I don't get enough work done, so now Jack is in care on Thursday arvo's so I can go in to work.

I'd be inclined to do 5 days a week with Janaya, but then if you can find her after school care 3 days a week would be nice too cos then you've got 2 full days of home time.

When I went back to work it was 30 hours/week. If I were you, I'd take the same amount of hours per day as this helps yours and kiddies' routines better IMO. And you'll also get more Public Holidays - I just realised that lol. In saying all that though, my work is just a 10-15min drive one-way.

i work 3-5 days a week
i used to work afternoons from 1-5 but like you i also had to get afterschool care for my oldest and then paying that and child care for jett too it didnt really work out too well and i found i wouldnt get home till after 6 and i would be totally exhausted.

i have swapped to mornings 8-30 - 1-30 which so far isnt really proving as easy as i had first thought as i just cant get organised.
love the mornings tho.

i wanted to do the 3 full day thing too but unfortunatly i couldnt due to the person im job sharing with.
