I know I've previously read a thread on here about clothes for big cloth butts, but I can't seem to find it so sorry to repeat the topic...

We're using one size fits all pocket nappies and the elastic on her pants seems quite tight. It sits against the nappy so doesn't leave marks on her skin, but it's tight all the same. If we put her in 3-6 month pants the legs are massive!

I am going to get some Jack & Abby jeans for "town clothes" but need some cheap everyday pants for her! Any suggestions? Has anyone tried making their own?

Also thought I was going to need new body suits as her one seemed tight to do up under her nappy this morning - on closer inspection her nappy was half way down her bum! Must have been a bit sleepy...

Have a fantastic day everyone!

I think you can get clothes especially made for cloth bums, but the ones I have seen were really expensive. I just go up a size. Sophie is in 0 or 1 body suits to go over her big bum.

We use tnt clothes mostly and they fit over the bum. Simple stuff like track pants have stretchy material.

If they are too long in the legs you can always roll them up once or just take the legs up.

There is a shop umm... I'll have a look for it (online store) and repost when I find it that sells bodysuit extenders, which just add that extra bit onto the crotch area making bodysuits fit.

J&A jeans tend to run VERY large, so consider sizing down, and definately get smaller if you're not sure.

Or even 2 sizes smaller. We got size 1 for Daniel but it's more like a 2 or 3. So we got the 6-9 month ones and it falls off him its so big in the waist so must be worn with a belt and I've taken it up in the legs because they were just so long

I just always check out the waistbands on trousers to see how stretchy they are.   I don't think one brand is any better than another as they all seem to vary so much even within one store! Also, with bodysuits I found them a bit of a pain with cloth nappies so I just switched to singlets that didn't do up underneath or switch to wool bodysuits as they have heaps more stretch than cotton (and don't cause compression wicking like cotton can).

HTHs!

I'm actually quite disappointed with our J&As Jack is in size 1 and they are so huge areound the waist a belt won't even keep them up. Caprece is in 6-9 months and they are so loose around the waist too. By the time they fit them around the waist they will be too short.

Baby factory have really cheap trackpants but they aren't the flashest looking pants.

Rach, on Daniels I've added a few small pleats kinda to take in the waist, it's still too big but we have a belt for it as well. But taking in the waist a bit has helped.

Is that hard to do Stacey? I can't sew but I could give it a go how did you do it?

Is where they sell the bodysuit extenders - might be worth a shot?

All I did was make little folds and then hand sew them together so they could be let out as Daniel grows. It was pretty easy.

Most of PP pants have adjustable waists which we have found works really well on Ella. I don't really use bodysuits on here anymore I can't be bothered with the domes, but the ones I do have I brought the next size up.

Hi ya,
The only company i know of is Frugi, formally Cut 4 Cloth. They are in the UK though so freight could be dear.

I never bought into the "cut for cloth" clothing - I think it gives people the impression that you can't use normal clothes over MCNs which isn't the case at all.

When Caitlin went through her very heavy wetting stage (we were using 2 large inserts and a booster so her but was massive!) we just got some cotton/lycra mix leggings in the next size up and took up the hem. From memory we got a lot from TNT.

Stacey - we've done the exact same thing with our J&A jeans. The waist is huge on all of the sizes I've bought her but I just tacked them in and have let them out as she grew. She's only just come out of the 6-9mths which fit perfectly around the waist but it's not exactly the right weather for 3/4 length pants

Hmm Luke is 7 months and in MCN - havne't had any issues with clothes needing to be bigger??

To be honest, if I needed to buy special clothes so that he could be in cloth, I wouldn't have bothered...

I just had a thought - if you're using a OSFA nappy on a newborn then it will be much bulkier to start with and that's probably why you're finding it hard to fit somethings over top. Once your baby fills out a bit the nappies won't seem so bulky. I think if you were to use a sized nappy then it would be a trimmer fit.

thanks for all the feedback. I've just got out all her 3-6 mth pants and I'm taking the leg up. They should fit just fine. Yes Vic it must be more bulky with the OSFA. We've got one small honey child and 0-3 mth pants fit fine with that

Out of interest, which OSFA nappies are you using?

We're using Bum Genius OSFA. We find them fantastic, apart from the pants issue. Have taken the leg up on her bigger pants now, and they fit her lovely big bum perfectly.

Tamie, we found the same problem when Jack was really little. He still goes up to the next size a bit earlier than he would have in sposies but for the amount you save (and the ease of BG) I don't care. I bought PP pants with the adjustable waists (they were on sale recently) in 6-12 months and rolled up the leg twice. Obviously I could've bought smaller but I'm a tightass!

Yeah I'm a tightass too!!!
Most of our clothes were my nephews so I wasn't too keen on buying lots more!
I lvoe the fact that we don't have to keep buying bigger nappies coz BG are so great!

Funny, Rohann's been using BG since 2.5 weeks old and we haven't had any probs with pants fitting (infact we have to buy tops in the next size up as she is so long in the body, rather than pants). I do notice she fills the pants out more in cloth rather than disposable, but as I said they still fit fine. Odd.
