Ive pretty much got my bag sussed for the hospital, been finishing that today, and will add things as I think of them, but what about the bag for baby?
What are some things that you think we should definitly have in there and what are things you didnt need?
Ive packed things like socks, booties, mittens, stretch n grows, some wooly hats....a blanket..swaddle blanket..
Im going to probably stay in hospital for around 2 or 3 days to get the hang of breastfeeding or at least until my milk comes in so i want to make sure I have enough packed.

Vaseline.... put it on his bottom at nappy changes, so when he passes that meconium, it doesn't stick to his bottom.. magic.
sounds though like you've got lots of good stuff, just make sure the woolies you take are actual wool not acrylic or they don't doo much at all. Maybe a couple of woolie singlets, wool hats and wool booties and a wool cardy (again, proper wool) so if for any reason he is cold, those will help keep him nice and warm.

yeah sometimes nice to use the hospital gowns etc because it means you don't get home with a whole heap of baby washing to do... cos as other have said, there's always gonna be leaks, of the bottom and the top kind

Birthcare was really warm, so we didnt really need the wooly singlets whilst we were in the hospital, so might be worth packing some cotton ones too, just in case. Cardigans are great for over the top of stretch n grows, and we also took a couple of our own swaddling type blankets, although birthcare provided so we didnt use. But if you have leakage, then its worth having a back up!

I recommend using gowns (your own or the hospital ones) as well, really easy to do changes esp. at night, as someone has already said. Hats and bootees are essential. Singlets - a cotton singlet to go under any wool ones is needed.

Oh and she was so ickle and fragile looking I was too scared to change her lol (you grow out of that pretty quick)

I also packed some plastic nappy bags so that anything soiled did not soil our noses too. Oh, and plenty of dribble bibs.
Depending on how far you are needing to go to get home depends on how much stuff you need to pack. Ours is a 3 1/2 hr drive so I went through a lot of gear on the way home. Definately suggest using hospital stuff while you are there - saves washing and dollars.
