Rohann is in bamboozles fitted nappies at night (and they are fantasically absorbant) and I'm noticing that she is getting a rash around her waist and a bit on the top of her thighs. She does suffer from (mild) excema, but has never had it there before. So I'm wondering if the nappy could be causing this (considering it gets soaked in urine), as it's always quite bad in the morning and gets better as the day goes on. However it is frustrating as today I've had to put cream on it which means I've had to go out and buy disposables just for this purpose (and I've prided myself on the fact we've never bought a packet of disposables up until now)
Has anyone had a similar problem?

Is the Bamboozle fleece-lined? If not, maybe adding a fleece liner would help draw the wetness away from Rohann's skin?

is the rash under the nappy or the cover? cause maybe it is the cover rubbing not the nappy!

Yep we use a fleece liner with our bamboozle as Rowan suffers from the same thing. I know the rash doesn't appear in the crotch area but if you have the liner it may wick the moisture away differently.

What kind of cover are you using? Maybe it's not breathable enough around the legs and waistband.

We have the same thing with Jack, its not the same as a nappy rash but more a heat rash type thing. Jack is quite sensitive to heat tho and it didn't bother him so we just left it and he doesn't get it anymore.

We use a liner just through the crotch area though which is why I think it's the nappy as the rash is only occuring where it's directly touching her skin, ie waist, thighs and hips (and not where the cover is touching - thanks Deb) , so have considered making a giant nappy shaped insert. The covers I'm using are TotsBots, Bummis and I have 1 woollen soaker (though not yet using the ones my Mum knitted shhh.....).

Bobbie did I read that Rowan suffers from excema as well (great name by the way )?

Yep she does - especially around the tops of her thighs and mons area. She also had bad (open sores) nappy rash for the first 10 weeks of her life. So it's all probably related.

Rowan has a bummi wrap cover usually over top of hers. Hmm maybe a giant liner is the way to go. The plus side is that if you use a huge fleece liner then you don't have to worry about the cream getting on the nappy. Unfortunately it's all trial and error though.

I was stoked to see your little girl's name too - I think it's beautiful

Righto I've got some microfleece so I will go it a go tomorrow otherwise I will be re-thinking my night nappies.

Yeah Bobbie I couldn't believe it when you had Rowan and i saw her name, as we already had Rohann has one of our top two names! Although your Rowan probably won't have the problems that ours will with everyone prouncing/spelling it wrong!! But we liked it!
