DP and I have an appointment on Friday with a Doc to discuss our next step in the TTC journey. It's been over a year with the last 5 months charting. I was wondering if anyone had some good questions to ask. I guess we get DP tested to see what's happening with his little guys. My luteal phase is quite short so I guess that gets looked at. But I have no idea what to expect. Any advice would be really helpful. thanks.

I have no idea sorry, but I am interested in what suggestions people have. We are in the same boat as you except I haven't been charting. My luteal phase is sometimes only 5 or 6 days long which doesn't help.
I started taking Femzone from the health2000 it's meant to regulate cycles and help with reproductive health. After taking it for three months my luteal phases started to lengthen to up to 10 days! It might be worth asking if he knows if there are any herbal remidies backed up with research that might help.

hi Konagirl, I just went to the dr last month for the same reasons. First she sent me for a blood test & that tested for a whole range of hormones. Then she gave me three forms to get day 21 bloods done for the next three months to check my progesterone levels are within the normal range. And lastly she gave us two sperm analysis forms (& sample jars) and these we have to do two weeks apart & deliver them to the lab within an hour.
So in the meantime we just keep on trying each month and see what happens and then make a decision in three months time if we don't have a bfp by then
Hopefully this is of some help.

i just posted a real similar topic not realising this one was right before it so ive deleted it to re-post here. lol. going to doc 2mrw to talk bout irregular cycles, provera, endo etc... becuse i have no normal cycle (havent since endo surgery and depo, did both at same time s dont know which one is the culprit) i want to get tested to see if i ovulate at all or charting is a bit of a waste. what did people ask their doctor or get checked for when ttc? i dont wanna walk into the doctor and say i wanna get pregnant, sit down and have him ask what he is supposed to do bout it. lol

Thank you Jaxs, just wasn't sure what to expect. We probably should have done this a few months back if they're going to take a few months to do all the tests.

When i first went to the Dr i had the same things done -hormone and blood tests and first time around got given one day 3 and one day 21 test. (My first day 3 test came back showing maybe i didnt ovulate and i have been given another day 3 test to do...five months later still waiting for day 3 to NOT be on a weekend or long weekend so i can get the stupid test done!!!)
DH also got given the sperm test to do (Im still trying to convince him) and he had a full medical done as well - mostly seen as i got him to the Drs rather than for any TTC purpose.
For the first appt i took in my cycle diary to show him which was good because otherwise i would have had to make another appt.
Good luck for Friday

i went today. ive been sent to a specialist but he said he would probably want at least a month of temp charting and 3 months off AF charts. i was sent for '1st preg' blood test which cover everything like your immunity to rubella etc...

I spoke to a nurse to see if there would be much point in me seeing my doc after trying for only 12mths and she told me that because I had a depo injection in jan'07 that I should give it another 6mths because my reproductive system would have only started working properly since jan'08 meaning I have really only been trying for 5mths.
I was pretty disappointed about that.

I also got the day 3 and day 21 tests over 3 cycles. All 6 tests came back that my prog was 0.5 which is super low!!! I was basically told I wasnt ovulating. As I had an abnormal smear in feb GP suggested we take the next step once I had the smear redone in 3 months.
Whoops, I am 5 weeks pregnant. (Thrilled of course) I did start charting properly when told I wasnt ovulating as I wanted to have some info for the specialist (GP also suggested it) I just have to wonder how useful those tests are. Maybe I just randomly started ovulating this month.. I dont know.
Good luck ladies

there are a lot of different views on coming off depo. the most common i have heard is that you can get pregnant strait after but it isnt common. the average is 5 - 9 months after your last injecxtion is due. if you want to get pregnant, my doctor suggested provera which reverses the stuff that is still left in your body. the is def no way you shouldhave to wait 18 months after coming off though, so dont give up hope :)

What is provera? I've never heard of it.
I would have never gone on the injection in the first place if I knew it could hinder ttc. I really need a new doctor!

yea for sure. i got told by someone that provera can reverse the affects of depo provera. def speak to your doctor about it. ive just been put onto a speacialist who can apparentlyd jab me with a needle that will bring on my cycle and then give me more meds to make me ovualte etc... get a good doctor and maybe a specialist depending on how many $$ you can afford. i have had a botched endo surgery and an infection so if i want to get pregs i dont really have a choice but to cough up :(

That awful about the botched surgery monikah! That's not fair that you have to pay for the treatment, since they screwed it up the surgen should have to pay for it! Things like that make my so mad!
I got a new doc and he is really helpful. He was mad the my other doc didn't refur me to a gyn it should have been done years ago because of all the pain I have had. And now that I'm pg he can't do anything about it.
