Daniel has been a dream baby until the last week.  He sleeps really well during the day and used to go down for the night between 7 - 8pm.  But now...  he screams blue murder as soon as you lower him into the cot..  if he does go to sleep he only stays asleep for maybe half an hour then wakes up screaming.  He is so distressed that he has the gulping cries.  Last night he fell asleep after being walked around the house in the pram for an hour - this was after midnight.  So he is awake from 5pm till 11.30 or later.  Once asleep he sleeps until 6.30 - 7.00 (which is is normal wake up time)

Any clues suggestions advice???? Anything....

does he have wind? you could try propping up the end of his cot where his head is just a little and see if this helps? ummmm im trying to remember, i think they often get a growth spurt around 12ish weeks, so it could be a result of this maybe?

Also it could be that hes getting overtired and over stimulated and then unable to go to sleep? maybe try a really really quiet evening from about 5pm? Eden likes to have a bath with me, then a bottle (half in the bath) then a story and cuddles with her dad then the rest of her bottle and bed.

good luck hun!

teething? Ella started teething around that age (first tooth didn't come thru until she was 6 months)...and when she is teething she starts crying/screaming when I put her to bed (and normally she goes to bed without a fuss).

Also could be having a growth spurt and be hungry?

I don't think he is hungry coz he refuses the boob or he'll just use it to pacify.  Maybe it is teeth?  I guess during the day he has more things to distract him from the pain.  If it is teeth can I use Pamol or bonjela?

pamol yes, bonjela no, he is too young.

you can get a powder called "weleda teething powder" which is FANTASTIC, Izobel got her 1st tooth at 3.5months and Eden has been teething for ages now and so both have been too young for bonjela, so deffinately get some weleda teething powder, its fantastic and the kids seem to love it

how does he sleep during the day? Generally the better they sleep during the day, the better at night. Also, does he have a cold at all? Could it be ears?

They do these things from time to time and just when you work it out they stop and find something else to "challenge" you. But lack of sleep sucks...as does sore ears from all the screaming.

Will he sleep with you?

He's a brilliant sleeper during the day.  hhhmmm.  No he won' t sleep with me either...  I tried to feed him lying down in hope he would just nod off but with no success.  I don't think he has a cold, he doesn't have a temp and isn't snotty at all.  Could it still be his ears?

Oh and snap with the ticker :)

I was thinking ears, Kylah was doing the, screming as soon as she lay in her cot. She had a ear infection in both ears!
