I have just found out that my baby isn't growing as adequately as she should be and am now having to have regular monitoring.
I'm really annoyed they have only decided this as I had my scan nearly 2 weeks ago. And they have finally decided that there could be a problem.

Has anyone else been in this situation or had a baby with growth restriction?
My MW did say that they probably won't let me go past my due date, but does that mean having to have a c/section or being induced?

I guess I'll find out more when I see my MW tomorrow and I'm having ctg done but I'd like to hear of others who have experienced this.

they most probably induce you unless they think that would be harmful to the baby, then they will do a elective c section.

I didnt have this but had a friend who did and her bub is just fine!!

I had Rowan at just under 38 weeks due to growth restriction. She was in the bottom percentile and born at 2.5 kg but she fattened up beautifully outside (as you can see in the ticker).

I think you would probably be induced if presentation etc is ok.

You may have a few more scans for monitoring but I would say that you'll have your baby in your arms very soon! Congratulations!

I had twins at 35+4 due to one of them being small. I had a c-section as she was the second twin and breech.

She was 1.6kgs when born and is coming along beautifully.

i had an elective c/s at 39wks and jack was 5lb 12oz. he was always on the bottom percentile for both height and weight, but from about 2.5yrs he jumped up to 50th.

not quite the same situation, but i'm sure bubs will be fine and will grow beautifully on the outside i agree they will most likely induce you if bubs is in a good position.....how exciting, good luck!

Now I don't know how I'm feeling, excited and nervous. I really wanted baby to come early but was hoping she would decide for herself.
Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow for sure whats going to happen.
At least I know I don't have long now
Thanks for sharing your stories, its very reasuring to know your babies all turned out healthy.

From my experience, I was monitored from 27 weeks, and then at 34w was sent a specialist etc who said I would have a c/s at 38w (he was breech) or induced if he turned. Then they said 37w induction, then 38, 39, 40 and I finally went naturally at 40w3d. And Jack was born 7lb10oz in the end after a MASSIVE growth spurt in the last couple of weeks.

IUGR babies are usually classed as under 2.5kg at a certain date (I think 37w?). Unfortunately it also depends on the hospital - Chch was far too busy around Xmas/New Year for me to be induced so they let me go. And Jack still hasn't caught up. He was an average baby but his growth (which is what they monitor usually, not size) dropped by 50%. You're probably lucky you're having bubs at a better time of year as the standard of care should be better.

IUGR babies usually feed more too which can be stressful so they will probably try and keep bubs in as long as possible. Just make sure you have a good chat to your m/w and tell her your concerns and get her to plot the growth with you so you know exactly what you're dealing with. Hugs, I know its not easy, I got depression, anxiety and insomnia from the worry but at the end of the day Jack is now a healthy, alert wee boy. Your bubs will be too

I spent most of the day in hospital today being monitored and having a scan and they have decided to induce me tomorrow morning
I'll a little nervous but I'm sure everything will be fine.

I have a friend who gave birth a week and a half ago. They told her the baby wasn't growing properly and a few days before the birth they said the baby would be lucky to be 5 pound. She gave birth to a healthy 6 pound 9 ounce girl. My friend is only tiny herself, so this was a great size I think.
