My 2 month old baby was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia a couple of days ago. He is being booked in for surgery to have it fixed this month. I'm a first time mum and find this all a bit scary. Just wondering if anyone else has been through the same thing or know what baby will be like after surgery?

Sorry no idea, just wanted to say big hugs to you, I too would be a bit scared with the surgery but I'm sure your bubba will be in great hands

Thanks to both of you. It is a daunting thing. It is hard enough to get bubs sorted with the basics let alone deal with this sort of thing. Good to hear of someone who got through it ok. I too feel like he is just soo small and the thought of someone cutting him is just awful.

oh big hug to you....I had ella in hosp with pneumonia last year and that was bad enough. Plenty of hugs...lots of love and heaps of magazines for you...

honestly worst thing about it is bubs will sleep and be on the good drugs, you will be bored, not want to leave room to much as dont want to bring back infections etc to bubs....let people wait on you - it will be draining...we were there for 3-4 days and i was exhausted by end of it. I hope it all goes well for you and bubs...

we just have the old standard umbilical hernia here...the big tummy button one! LOL....

Thanks Bombshell. Pneumonia - that sounds awful. Poor you and bubs. I think its the waiting now thats killing me. Plus we are edge because the hernia can strangulate apparently which is dangerous so I am forever checking it.
