Please tell me squealing is just a phase. We had a shouting phase a few months ago which I thought was annoying but this is so much worse.
He has been in bed for the last 30mins, suppose to be asleep, squealing!!! He's not upset cos in between he is blowing raspberries, chatting etc. I can here him suck in air and then really squeal as loud and as high pitched as he possibly can. He starts off in the lower ranges and then gets really really high, I swear to god glass is gonna start breaking soon.
He is doing it all day now, happy, sad, hungry, tired, excited, you name it he squeals about it.

DD does this. It hurts my ears and I'm waiting for the windows to crack soon too. I thought it was a phase because she started it around the age your boy is now and then stopped for a few months, but in the past two weeks it has come back again. So horrible! Hoping it will stop again soon - we just ignore her, actively turn our backs on her when she does it, so that she doesn't keep doing it for attention.

Yup, a phase, but one they go through more than once from our experience!

We are soooo thankful we haven't yet experienced this. The longer we are without it the better.

I concur with miss - definitely just a phase but one they can go through several times, we have, and still are... just depends on what there is to squeal about!

Definitely a phase, make sure you don't give him extra attention for it if you want it short(er)-lived!!

Aww I really feel for you cause Sam goes through this phase almost every month for about a week at a time. It is the loudest, most high pitched squealing you could imagine and each time he goes through this phase it gets louder and louder!
If I ignore him he still does it, if I react he still does it too!

Yeah we do try and ignore it as much as possible, except when I'm holding him and he does it right in my ear then I normally tell him to shush. I thought when the screaming phase ended that that was it, no one told me about this squealing business

but the phase keeps going in some...ella does the same- outta the blue now we will get the highest pitched "squeal" or she does it in the pool etc where her voice echoes! It hurts your ears if she does it close to you suddenly! OUCH!

jack and charli love to squeal....usually one starts the other off and it's usually when we're in confined spaces like the car or the house
