I just took a HPT- 11DPO and middle of the day- assumed it was a BFN cos nothing came up instantly..walked to computor, left a message on the 2WW thread and gone back to loo to check again...and there seems to be a very faint line! OMG. It's real faint. But you can def see it adn I went back within the 5 minute mark. OMG. I can see it against a white surface and a coloured one but is ultra light. Aaargh what is it? She's only just gone but I've now re-looked at the test....there's def a very very faint line there but how can I tell if it's a BFP or a control line? It did appear within the 5 min time slot...but still....ah AF will prob show tomorrow and it'll all be over Posted By: Emmecat

It's highly unlikely to get false positives, much more likely to get false negatives and your's definitly doesn't sound like that! hehe, the only thing I'd be hesitant about is the colour of the line if it's pink or blue tinged (depending on dye colour) as opposed to a greyish-silvery colour as the second kind could be evap line.

Well it looks more light pinky to me than any other colour but it's terribly faint. Would it be possible to get an evaporation line within the 5 minute mark? Can hardly see it at all now adn it's gone a bit hairy since my cat came into the room. Eeeeww how do I put a photo in?

Eeeepppp, when I did my first hpt a VERY SUPER faint line came up, and again and again when I kept testing lol. The line was SOOOOO faint DF said I was seeing things, but I swear I wasnt. I was about the same amount of DPO as you aswell! It will be faint cos its early!
But definitly wait and test again with FMU adn see what happens(in saying that though, I did this and got a BFN!! even after my BFP's, but then a digital a few days later said I was definitly preggers). Good Luck and it sounds like a bfp to me  ------------- |

I can see the photo, and think I can see a SUPER faint second test line to the right of the nice and dark control line... it has a pink tinge (if it isn't my eyesight, LOL) but it could just be that there's that extra-white looking bit near it too making the rest look darker... however, I do know how photo's seem to often make the line look paler than in real life too! ------------- http://lilypie.com" rel="nofollow">

Dp says he can def see the line...both on the real test and on the photo! It is super faint and the real test is now wet thanks to a little boy cleaning his teeth on it! Anyway, will have to wait till tomorrow morning. Do you think it should be darker then? Am also now having these twinges in my lower abs and feel very full and a bit gassy (sorry tmi) Maybe it's AF coming although it doesn't feel like cramps so much, just twinges. looks positive to me. I know when i got my very first positive it was so faint even hubby thought i was imagining the line and then i went to the doctor and got a test done and it took about 6 minutes to come up cos she was saying no it looks neg but we will give it a couple more minutes and it came through!
Make sure you test early, we will all be checking every two seconds to see if youve posted! |

my2angels- that happened to me the first and only time I've been pg before....I got a REALLY faint BFP so went to the Dr a few days later adn the nurse tested me adn said no sorry...but then a few minutes later wola a line appeared. Unfortunately I lost that pg at about 14 weeks.  That was about 10 years ago and any pg test I"ve done since then has been an absoulte BFN. The line doesn't look that faint to me? I'd say it's definitely a BFP! Congrats!
The first 2 HPT's I took with this baby were so faint I had to hold them up to the light to see them and that was at 14dpo with FMU, so I took a First Response (not the dipstick one, the POAS one) and got a nice strong line. ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

For some stupid reason the photo makes it look like there's THREE lines on the test...which there isn't. There's the control line (nice and dark), my faint line (I think), then a much stronger light pink line which is actually a crease of some kind and nothing to do with the test. Hey emmecat if you are getting a faint line then I think your preggy!! I have done lots of tests and only ever had evap lines appear and those hours later after testing so just because its outside the 5 mins I don't think would make too much diff especially if it was there (even though really faintly) to begin with.

Ok so they're the same tests....my one this morning looks a little like your 2nd day 8 or maybe day 9. At 12DPO. But it took outside the 5 minute mark for it to show that clearly- between 5 and 10 min I would say. Surely if you're not pg, then NO line would turn up, let alone a faint pink one??! Well, approximately 31 weeks ago I posted a topic asking if false positives were possible on tests because I got such a tiny faint line on my test (one from the pharmacy) and it got fainter the more I tested. And here we are. So I reckon there is a very high chance that you're pregnant. I would go get some more pharmacy tests (maybe talk to the pharmacist?) and go for it. Good luck!! I don't know much about multiple tests, but what are the odds of getting more than one evaporation line on that many tests? I would think that the odds were more in favour of a very early pregnancy. I had very faint lines at three/four weeks when I tested (fully not expecting anything) and it wasn't until I'd gone to see my doctor and he made me do a urine test and said yes (even though it was still quite faint) that I believed it. I really, really hope you get a strong confirmation in the next week - although the waiting will be torture! What about calling your GP's office to ask a nurse or someone whether it's worth you going in to get a second opinion from them/get them to test you?

Hi BooBoo- just went and got my bloods done although not confident that they'll be back today! So may have to wait until Monday anyway! Just keep thinking I've misread everything and AF will arrive v soon...keep getting lower ab twinges although not cramps as such. Prob blood test will come back with no HCG showing at all..and i'll just feel like a big idiot I can't believe how stressful this is! Need to take my mind of it as not really much I can do now anyway! I just mentioned now in y other thread that I called the nurse and the results won't be back until Monday! She wasn't very nice and told me there was no point in testing over the weekend as it 'wouldn't change anything'. This is true but it would still be nice to know. I'm theorising about why she said this... I think she might have thought there was the potential for you to still get BFNs on HPTs whether you are preg or not because of how early it is, so she didn't want you to waste the tests.

You usually have to wait a day or two for results. If you got them done on a Fri, then Mon at the earliest would be when you could expect them.

Yeah it's no big drama to be honest. The nurse was kinda rude but I also did see her point! I guess the 3 lines I've got already have thrown me a little but I'll get through it, def not life or death saga Pretty sure AF will turn up as big anti-climax to whole experience anyway... still getting twingy aches in lower abs so assume they're cramps? If my temp goes up tomorrow I'll test again. I know how you're feeling, having been through waiting for hcg results many times (and not knowing if it was going to be a m/c or not). It always seems to be over a weekend and seems to take forever until the Monday!
