Hiya, Just wondering what age/weight is it recommended to move babies from basenette to cot.
My wee one is 11 weeks and wriggles herself into all sorts of funny positions and I am thinking she might be more comfortable with more room. Only thing that worries me is I wonder if she'll end up with her feet between the bars. Is there anything that I can saftely do to prevent this? Also has anybody had problems with bubs not sleeping or getting upset with the change to cot? What did you do?

I didn't move Spencer until 4.5 months I hadn't wanted to move him till 6 months but he out grew his bassinet (his bassinet was in our room but his cot was too big to fit in with us). At around 3 months Spencer learnt to plant his feet in the floor and push himself up which would result in him ramming his head into the top of the bassinet so I bought a safety sleep that keeps him pinned to the bed. I love my safety sleep and wouldn't be without it now cos he means he can't roll around the cot etc and he knows it is a sleep cue. Antoher good thing would be to use a sleeping bag that should stop the legs between the bars scenario.
For the actual change I did it at the night sleep as he always goes down for his night sleep better than his day ones and had no issue at all he just went to sleep and slept the same amount as usual and then was fine for the day ones the next day as well. -------------

We moved Daniel to the cot at about that age. We put the basinette in the cot so he got use to the view and then just put him in the cot for day sleeps and did that for a couple of days and then put him in for night time as well. He was completely fine with this transition.
You can get a safety sleep if you want to stop her moving about. But it doesn't really matter if they get their feet out the bars. They will let you know if shes uncomfy or whatever. |

We had a smallish bassinette so our girls were moved into the cot at about 6 weeks. Didn't have any problem with legs/bars. -------------  |

We moved Kylah at 4.5 Months too.
As she had all her day sleeps in her cot anyway it wasnt a problem, she only slept in the bassinet at night.. I agree a Safety Sleep is really good! ------------- ~ Mummy to a beautiful girl ~ |

Jack moved in to his cot at 6 1/2 weeks cos the bassinett we borrowed was quite small and he kept pushing up and touching his head at the top and waking up!
We have a safety sleep which I swear by for peace of mind (bought it off TM secondhand) and also short-sheet the bed so if the safety sleep wasn't on, he wouldn't be able to wriggle down anyway. We started off putting him when I was getting him dressed from early on so he knew it was a good place to be, then from about 4 1/2 weeks when I knew he wasn't going to last much longer in his small bed I started popping him in there for day sleeps. At 6 1/2 weeks he started sleeping in there all the time which was hard for me at first but now he sleeps more soundly as he has more room. So far we've had no problems with bars etc because of the safety sleep and short-sheeting the bed. |

We did the move at around 3 months. Prior to that Eva was in a moses basket which was in her cot. Her first time in the cot was a disaster as she wriggled up the cot and turned sideways! We moved her back into her moses basket until we got a safe T sleep (second hand off TM), which has been fantastic. Keziah (4 months 1 week) is still in her motion sway basinette which is hanging inside her cot at the moment which will hopefully make it easier when we make the transition across.. we have a safe t sleep for once she's in her cot too, so hopefully our wee Houdini wont end up between the rails 
Also, Keziah is a small baby and is only now getting to big for it.. she would of had a heck of a time in a HUGE cot LOL -------------

Jack moved into his cot at about 5 mths. I put him in there for his day sleeps for about a week and then at night.
We have only just had the legs through the bars problem in the last few months (so 8mths onwards). A sleeping bag stopped it for a while, now I have put the sheet sideways so that it tucks in alot at the sides although he still manages to move out from under it. Come to think of it though he hasn't got his legs stuck for a while, maybe that's to do with him getting closer to crawling. ------------- Lindsey

We never had a bassinette, Lily was in the cot from day one. We also never had a safetysleep - but we did have a wedge and that was enough to keep her in one place until about 3 weeks ago. Now she crawls round the cot until she has had enougha nd decides to sleep -------------

I moved Sam to his cot at three weeks old because he was nearly too big for the basinette at birth!
I put him in his cot for day sleeps at first, and then after a few days he started sleeping in there at night. |
