Personally, and bear in mind this is just my opinion, I wouldn't give juice. She doesn't need it and better to keep them on water.

In saying that, my frigging mother gave Hannah juice at probably just a little older than that. Argh. Luckily most of the time Hannah still prefers water.

I would give it to her, it doesn't have to be every day and some babies (mine) absolutely refuse to drink water so on a hot day it would be ok.

I still think if she'll have water you should offer her that though.

I agree that I wouldnt give it either. Tom hates water so every now and then I add a drop of apple juice to his water to try and encourage him but if she will drink water on its own best to stick with that. She can get "juice" from fruit.

I have a friend who's kids get two juices to choose from...sky juice and cow juice.

I wouldnt give it either. Just give fruit- it has juice in it plus the benefits of fibre.

Well Lucas LOVES this stuff but I only allow him to have it once or twice a week ...honestly I've tasted it myself and its water with the tiniest amount of juice for flavoring ...its extremely diluted and if it was bad for baby, they wouldn't sell it in the baby section at your supermarket!!!

It's straight juice with all the added sugars ie. Just Juice & fresh up that you wouldn't be giving to baby/young kids as those added sugars can rot their teeth!

I think you're perfectly safe! My boy refuses to drink water so its boobie and the odd juice (and bathwater LOL)

WE just do Tap Juice here as well, however, sometimes Jake gets a teaspoon or just enough to cloud his water in his drink as a treat, but he is almost 3. I wouldn't give it to a baby, plus its just another marketing ploy to get $$ off ya!
Your choice, though, that is just my opinion!

Ella always drinks water- she has a bit of sweet tooth already so as long as she is happy drinking water then I am leave the fruit juice. I always offer Ella water after every meal.

I got  a free sample of the baby juice from the P&C show and I just froze it into small ice blocks and then when it was really hot I gave Ella one to suck on.

I agree with Annie it is just another way to get money out of you; like toddler formula (cows milk is fine).

My boys both love water and get a treat when they are at gran's place. Andrew gets Mello Yellow and Josh gets Ginger Ale. 1/2 a small cup each and they love their treat. And if we go out anywhere else they get it too.

Daniel hates water so we give him juice, usually prune juice diluted heavily with water. Or we have a peach and pear juice we do the same to and he loves it. It's a great way of getting fluid into them.

Daniel also loves wine glasses so every now and then I'll get a wine glass with water and he sips from that just because of the glass

You don't usually need to introduce water until 10mos-ish. Sometimes on a very hot summer day it does help but that's like maybe 5 days in a January, nowhere near every day. Up until 8-10mos+ a baby's fluids will be sufficient with formula or bm and bm is the best of those two for this. You pretty much don't need to offer water until they snatch your glass and learn how to slurp out of it!

As for baby juice, it's just watery juice I think?! I gave some juices to Hannah when she was weaning (12mos) but mostly just really watery cordial.

i use to buy those cartons every now and again and give them to the kids as a treat......but that was only from about 7mths onwards til about 14mths as both of them seemed to go off juice and only drink water from that age on.

if kylah drinks it ok, then i don't see a problem in giving it to her as a treat....have you tried it yourself? tastes like water anyway

I am giving Tom water after every solids.....but he might take a drop if that. Its more to get him used to using a sipper cup and the concept of drinking water.

Busymum.....down here we get a couple of months of HOT weather over summer (well we did this year). I dont worry so much with boob milk but when it is really hot I dilute his formula feeds a little (did it by accident due to shocking maths and he's happy so I keep short changing him).

Tom will happily suck an ice cube from his fresh food feeder so I figure water will come...in saying that I HATE our water here....it is sooooooooo gross.

If I want to give James Juice I just squeeze the juice out of an orange and dilute it with water that way I no there isn't anything extra in it.

I did give Gina some of the baby juice - think it was only Only Organics in little glass bottles deluted down to 10%. You could do the same, just dilute normal juice down to 10%. I think water is best though and we never really tried it too much with Gina - she drinks water now and loves it

It makes life so much easier and cheaper if you can just keep them drinking water. They don't ever need juice. Of course if you choose to give children juice then that is totally up to you!

it is very much a previous generation thing to say they need something new. Well in that case how on earth do severe allergy kids with limited diests cope!

Babies have a huge amount of taste buds so bland tasting food tastes so much stronger (in response to people who want to add stronger flavours to food, usually the grannies!).

They also do not get sick of food like we do - they can have the same food every meal and not really notice but for nutrition sake a variety is better.
