No, not me!!!!
My best friend who has been trying to get pregnant for ages finally is...and with TWINS!!!! I am sooooooo excited for her and want to help her.
My question is for all you twin mums. What was the most useful item, piece of advice, whatever that you had when you were pregnant? What should she know and what will make life easier?
TIA

MIght not be helpful but a friend told me that instead of feeling ok at 6 weeks it took until 3 months. Makes sense that it would take twice as long.

Yeah, I have read that morning sickness can be much worse with twins.
... Sorry... have no answer to your actual question!!

Bouncers/Rockers........ a god send, I'd be lost without mine. The rockers seem to be better because they are a little bigger.
Lots of help, someone to do a bit of washing etc.
Someone to tell you you are doing a good job........
If she ends up in SCBU or similar, then just someone to talk to. Afterwards at about 4 1/2 months, my 9 weeks in hospital really caught up on me, and the 6 weeks my girls spent in SCBU became a real issue of contension, I just needed someone to be my sounding board as I talked through all the feelings I finally found that I had about it.
And don't say "it'll get easier once they are older" because - (A) It doesn't - it just gets different, and (B) by older, I am assuming that people mean when they are 30

The morning sickness isn't necessarily true. According to my mum anyway who had twins in a 4th pregnancy and her only sign was her maternity clothes getting too small.
Tiredness however is killer. Sleep when you can, consider it storing up for when the babies arrive.
She should be prepared to finish work by 28weeks. If she lasts any longer she's superwoman
For after the babies arrive:
- Leather couches are brilliant when you've got 2 pukey babies.
- We strip the babies down and wrap them in muslin cloths when feeding them. This saves on washing.

Thanks guys, unfortunately she is in wellington at the mo and all her family are down here. They hope to move down by Xmas so I think its gonna be hard on her. I am trying to encourage her to join Ohbaby.
Tishy, I wrap Tom up for his formula feeds now as he tends to power chuck! Brilliant idea, wish I had known that when he was little.

A nice big tri-pillow for if she is going to breastfeed, made things heaps easier for me at feeding time. Sleep, lots of sleep.

What they said, especially what Anna said about the rockers, we used them to give the gremlins their bottles right up until they were about a year old.
And yep, it doesn't get easier, it just gets different. Some stages are easier than others, I loved 4-12 months, hated having newborns and am finding toddlers even worse!
Just coz things *can* go wrong in a twin pregnancy, doesn't mean they will. I spent 9 months worrying about having prem/sick babies and then they were born at term in perfect health (almost).
Oh and try not to have too many preconceived ideas. Routine was a must but so was having a bit of flexibility to just go with the flow on days when everything fell apart.

Best piece of advice I have been given so far is: "stay pregnant for as long as you can - no matter how uncomfortable it is" (ie so that twins arent too prem and have no sucking reflex) - will let you know how I get on with that one!
Also to help ease the dreaded morning sickness (it felt like a double dose) I used Blackmores "Morning sickness formula" - only vit B6 and ginger in it. It eased the nausea and pretty much stopped me vomiting - and it kept me out of hospital! I would highly recommend it to any preggy mum suffering ms!

Eewh........... Vit B6 made me vomit BAAAD in the early months....... I had to chop my elevit into 3 and take them over the day because of it.
I just thought of something else - a BIG nappy bag, In hindsight, a kapoochi backpack would have been ideal. We have a gr8x satchel.

I am deff going for the rockers/bouncers they are great we also have a ay swing which is really helpful for getting a grumpy bubba to sleep.
Also heaps of cloths for spills we have about 20 of the old style cloth nappies which are great.

I my breast pump. Although it's a hindrance to express extra during the day, it pays off on evenings like last night when both babies were cluster feeding and I was able to disappear to bed and leave DH to deal with the babies.
I strongly agree about the staying pregnant as long as possible too. They started threatening to take my babies out from 28weeks. I finished work and spent most of my time resting after that and lasted until 35 weeks.

I have the Kapoochi back pack and I do love it but if we are going out all day I normally don't have enough room for one babies stuff so something bigger might be better for twins.

A big nappy bag is essential. I had a kapoochi backpack for my first and surprisingly I could fill it up. Ive now upgraded to a larger kapoochi bag (like a sports bag with a detachable backpack) ready for when the twins arrive - I should be able to fit enough gear in it for the twins and my toddler.
Breast pump, bottles and bouncinettes are definately essential too. Also having friends/family fill your freezer with meals is a huge help.
