I have trouble getting water into Jack but mainly because of the sipper cup. I have the Watties one with the valve in it and he cannot seem to get the hang of sucking on it. He has never taken a bottle successfully either, last time I tried he just chewed on the teat.
He will drink from a cup or an H2Go bottle but often wants to hold it himself or tip it up and chew the bottom so we don't tend to have much luck and it often turns into a battle which I don't want it to be.

Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it? What sort of sipper cup/drink bottle do you use?

Josh has a tommie tippie sippie bottle and he loves it. It has a straw so Josh just sucks on it.

Daniel has a few different types, the best one is an older style looking tommee tippee ones. It's just a cup with handles to hold and a little thinger to suck on, no stupid valve or anything.

hey this is a great topic! which one would you recommend for a 5 month old breast fed baby? they say you dont need to give breast fed babies water but i have been naughty and done it anyway! sometimes if he is grizzling and wont take the breast it sure does the trick!

I definitely say the Tommee Tippee sipper cup as well. It looks like the old style sippy cups we had as kids and has no valve in it! Sam went through about 3 of the other types but could never get the water out!!!
This one is fantastic. She can grip the handles on it herself and have a drink whenever she wants!

Watties Baby Basics one was useless. We found the tommy tippy double handled no spill cup, with the soft spout excellent! Isla hadnt drunk water dom anything b efore we got this, and she just loved it! She was a trend setter, several of her mates who hadnt taken water before, suddenly did from this cup also! About $15 from supermarkets- this one is the closet pick I could find,...but ours didnt have wavy handles.

The Tommy Tipee fresh food feeders were also excellent! Great for babies just starting on solids/ or teething to suck on with things like grated apple, watermelon etc inside!

We have a sippy cup with a valve but it was so hopeless to wash the valve so we chucked that and now it's just like an old fashioned sippy cup. It does the trick for the most part - and is best for a 5mo so they don't have to learn a new technique btw - but Kryssi loves to pour it also. Generally if she is pouring, she's not all that thirsty so I take it off her. If she asks again, I give it back to her but if she pours it right away I take it straight back and we go do something else (like toys). She was born on 14/01/07

Tommee Tippee Nuby cups are awesome, especially for BF babies, they have a super soft nipple like teat, so its easy for baby to drink from as they can still use their tounge in the same way as they do on the nipple. No valve or anything, it rocks. WAs about $12.

Bought the Tommee Tippee Nuby cup today, and although it is early days I think that it will work. Jack still wants to chew the bottom but at least when I get the spout into his mouth he does get some water!

Thanks everyone for your help
