Unfortunately I do not produce enough breast milk due to surgery so am having to top up with formula. Since starting the formula my poor wee girl is grissly, squirmy and obviously uncomfortable after feeding. She also produces a fair amount fo mucous. Burping doesn't seem to be an issue. I feel that the formula I'm using (whey dominant) seems to e either too rich or harsh on her little system but I don't know what the better option would be. I am interested in other people's experiences and wondering how you've found other types of formula, like for instance goats milk based?

What formula is she on?

We found karicare horrible stuff.

Daniel is on S26 now and hes doing wonderfully on it.

Its a bit of trial and error to find one that works for your baby.

I'm pretty sure you aren't meant to put babies on goats milk/soy milk etc without your doctors advice.

My girl is an S26 baby too, we used the Gold formula although I don't think it would have made a huge difference if we'd just used the regular stuff.

We were the opposite. Both kids started on S26 in the hospital and were switched to heinz nurture starter because it was much gentler on thier tummies and the S26 made them spilly and grizzly.
I think its just kebakat said, all trial and error but maybe getting some sachets might be the way to go rather than buying a full tin

my boy had similar symptoms to what your baby is having. It ended up he has/had a dairy intolerance. I would suggest trying Karicare Sensikare formula the proteins are broken down a little more and is a little easier for their tummy , however if it continues I would go and see your GP and get them to look into dairy intolerance/issues. My boy went onto Neocate (hypoallergenic) and it was amazing the difference in him. He is now gettin gback on to dairy (many babies will grow out of their dairy intolerance by about 1, but not all, mine seems to be one of the 'lucky ones').
I tried variuos formula all with the same results.
good luck

I would suggest talking to plunket or your GP, just to make sure your little girl doesn't have an allergy etc.

I am using S26 Gold, which my midwife suggested, and Sophie is doing well on it.

And don't feel bad about giving your girl formula! Many babies end up on formula top up. Both of my children ended up on only formula from a few weeks old, as I had lots of problems with mastitis both times.
