question 11 says estimate your income from 1st april 2007 - 31 march 2008./...I worked april till september..which would put us over the income level threshold..but i dont work anymore..so obviously i have to write that in but that makes no sense..of course its the last tax year but it means we wont get any payments..and just because I was working and stopped 6 months before 31st march?I'm confused!! well it will put us about 63 ish..so i think thresehold is like 68...so we probably wouldnt get much...ohh this sucks considering i havent been working since september..is that how it works..i base it on that then get less even though I'm not working anymore:( ???? ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

Kawww, I did the same. I only finished work 2 weeks ago so we get like $3 a week according to that calculator!
I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what the process is. -------------

I believe so - as it's based on your annual income (we're in the same boat). You'll get more from 1st April 08. We won't get anything until then, but they said to still put the forms through so we're in the system and it's quicker to process when we do qualify. -------------

awesome let me know what they say... if you finished work 2 weeks ago you would be getting maternity pay not the 150 for 8 weeks?
just noticed your tickers..same as mine.. the one i have is the LMP the date i go by is 5 days ahead...i wonder who will be right..me or my LMP:) ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

i just think its stupid:( if you just stopped working all good..you wold get maternity pay..but i stopped 4 months ago..so now we get to (maybe) be poor when its obvious we haven't been paid for ages.. though it does say 'if you have no income at present , please tell us how you are supporting yourself, but then leaves no room to do that! ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

I'm so confused by all this crap too...
I've not being working for like the past ten months, and I rang WINZ to see what entitlements I had when I hit 7 months preg (that's when you're entitled to the sickness benefit, cos generally speaking, noone's going to hire anybody at that stage in a pregancy) But because DF and I live together and he supposedly 'earns too much' (yeah, he earns HEAPS! That's why we're struggling so much - DAFT TWATS!) I/we weren't entitled to ANYTHING... Not even the accommodation supplement which is like a pissy $30 a week... But apparently, once Little Miss arrives, we'll be entitled to the $30 a week... As for W.F.F, noone has been able to give me any ideas as to what we should be able to get through that. It's bollocks! It really pisses me off when there's people like us who actually NEED help from the government, but then you have the wan*ers out there who do absolutely NOTHING for society OR to help themselves, are completely reliant on the government and they get like $150 a week which generally speaking, gets blown on a 40 piece pack from KFC and a tinny! Grrr... Sorry... I'm in a foul mood today - Hormones and a pain in the ass DF have me reeling -------------  My wee girl is the love and light of my life!

It's a bullsh*t rule but I had to add my income in (it was only a months worth but it still tipped us over a bracket).
But I hate IRD even more as DH got a redundancy payout and that was classed as working income as well so we get nothing until next year which is crappy as. We can't wait til next year so we have some more $$ coming in. Basically anything paid from a job is counted, whether you are still working, going to work or not.

I have to look into this at some stage. I have always had a fulltime job (since I was 16) and never claimed anything $$ wise from the govt. But during my pregnancy I was made redundant end of July 07. I have been jobless / incomeless since. My partner is british and is not a resident yet (applying soon) and on a minimum wage job (gets commission also but not a hell of alot). So it will be interesting what happens to us. I know we are entitled to the accommodation suppliment, but I haven't got it set up yet as I was really sick on the day of my appointment and had to cancel.
But due to my redundancy, I didn't get a payout nor was I no longer entitled to my maternity leave payout. Sucks. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

serinity..i totally understand...i have the wff problems and the pain the #$% DH:(! ringing them wont help as they will tell me to go in and really i dont have the energy atm but i will have to as it will be worse when he gets here:(
kebakat..yes the redundancy rule is THE worst..i just think it's pathetic.. :( supposed to be encouraging us to work arent they?:( bella- if it was just going on DH we'd be good.. it would be 150 for 8 weeks...which is what i thought everyone got.. but if I'm reading it correctly i have to add in my income which will make us just about over the threshold..:( hmm.. I didn't get it the year I had RHyley (earned too much) but i applied for it and just put what I thought we would earn 07-08 as if I put the year before i wouldn't of made it again... and they excepted it... its an estimated income so if they wanted the exact all they had to do was look it up - if I was you I would definatley ring them as then they can tell you what to put. ------------- Ann

| These tax credits are a load of crap. I got the letter in the mail yesterday to say that I was not entitled to anything at all. So you have to struggle for a full 12 months before they will even consider helping! Because i have worked within the current financial year, we are over the treshold despite the fact that I am no longer working. I explained to them the fact that my husbands wage just covers the mortgage and other bills but doesn't leave any extra for food and petrol and it makes no difference, WINZ will also supply no assistance. I thought this Working for Families was supposed to have improved |

my friend just worked it out for me and reckons i might get a little bit but def. not the 150 for 8 weeks..I'm totally gutted.. I still need to ring them though to check..:( when i have exact details of how much i was paid and how much DH gets paid.. ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

Ok,I found this all so confusing too. I went in to see them and was told that as it was my first baby they take my income from the date bubs is born (actually they took it from when I started maternity leave- my paid parental) and that they take DHs from the whole year but that an "adjustment" is made.
I didnt trust this so I emailed them and got the same answer. Still didnt trust it so went in once Tom was born and asked again as I filled in my form. The woman went out the back to check and came back and said for me to put my income as of his date of birth including my PPL (so mine was estimated at about $5000) and I put DH's annual income in. I put a note about that on the form. There is an ambiguous question that says to explain what you are doing for income if you are not working or something like that and I just made a note there. When DHs income went up I phoned them to tell them and checked AGAIN that we had done it right as I dont want a bill at the end of the year. Again I was assured that we had. So thats my story but I still dont totally trust them. I mean it makes sense to me as why should you be penalised because you had your baby before March 31 where as a baby born in April 1 would give you everything! I guess it is also seen as a change in your circumstances, like when your income goes up and you ring to tell them, you wouldnt expect to have to pay back what you have already received just because the end result will be different.....but who bloody knows? |

You get one or the other - which sucks. But you do get the working for families if under there thresholds. And if you ring them with your ird number and your partners they can look at what you earned up till the end of last month. Hope this helps someone, they sure a pain to deal with. |

yes but you got maternity leave...i want parental tax credit..the 150 for 8 weeks..so its done on the past year:(

yeah if it was just his income it would be 755 after tax..but because its 1st april 2007 - 31st march 2008...we have to take my roughly 500 a week after tax into account which makes 1255:(so even though we arent getting any income besides his since sept we will get nothing:( boo.. ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

| I would ring IRD while you still have time and just check. It seems to be unless you ring them and ask, they don't ever tell you what your entitled to! We are having our third child so are already registered with them and the process is by far quicker if your registered already. Good luck :D |

this is what the IRD lady just told me.. :
and i quote ' you will fill in the form after 31st of march and you will get paid 8 weeks of 150$ from april'....yeah umm not sure i believe that but will put that into the form when i send it in.. if that is the case the form is really badly worded and bizarre!!! thought its supposed to be to help when hes born.. he'll be like 6 weeks old by then:) lol.. oh well........ ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

she didnt ask once how much my Dh earned.. she just said you will be entitled to 150 for 8 weeks after bubs is born as long as i dont apply before 31st march.. which still seems backwards to me but i get it.. cause you'd think if i miss the first 8 weeks then i miss it..
... not sure who told me..just i read somewhere i think that everyone who didnt get maternity leave got the 1200..and i only know a few who havent got maternity pay .. after talking to some friends yesterday and they got the 1200..mind you they earn a little less than DH.. oh its all too much for my preg brain:) ! ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

LOL, it seems to depend on who you speak to when you ring. It's the luck of the draw - ring one day and get told a different story than the next time. I have found some really helpful people and some not so helpful at times! Just what you don't need and it takes up so much time.
Here's hoping they also put up the thresholds/amounts paid for the new financial year - like they did last year. We can only but hope! :) |
