Bella has gone from being a fantastic day-sleeper to hardly wanting to sleep at all during the day and me and DH are pulling our hair out!!

She used to have 3 2 hour naps and would go down with no fuss and sleep the entire 2 hours, wake up happy, stay up for around 2 hours and then down again for another 2 hours. I have noticed over the last month or so that she has been waking during her 2 hour naps after about an hour, but she was always easy to re-settle back to sleep...not anymore!!! Now I'm lucky if I can get her to take ONE 2 hour nap during the day, and if I do, its from sheer exhaustion on her part. We have tried everything we used to do to get her to sleep but nothing is working. I realise she may not need 6 hours during the day anymore, but surely she needs SOME sleep!! What am I going to do?

And the other thing, and I don't know if its related or not, is that she is waking at 5 am EVERY morning crying her eyes out and we can't get her to re-settle. She used to sleep 12 hours straight (6.30 - 6.30).

ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED AS ME AND DH'S EYEBALLS ARE HANGING OUT WE'RE SO TIRED!!!!!

Daniel did the 5am wake up, check out the thread "How can I get him to sleep a lil longer" that was just bumped up this morn, cause that's exactly what daniel was doing, thru the tips on that thread we have fixed that early morning wake up.

I have no suggestions for you Shell, Tom seems to have his own timetable for sleeps these days. We can still normally get him down for his morning sleep but the afternoon ones are no go! That means he is often awake for about 6 hours straight!

Oh, I did ring plunketline and they suggested that he may be waking at the end of a sleep cycle and to try and pre-empt it and be there as he wakes to quickly stick hi sdummy in or put his music back on in hope that he wont wake fully and wil drift back again....that does work if I am quick enough.

Is she on solids? She may need a bit more food to see her through the 12 hours now.
Not sure about the day sleeps though, Spencer has started fighting his afternoon nap as well and then sometimes wants to go to bed at 5.30pm which is really annoying. What I have found works (sometimes) is to put him down quite quickly after lunch so he will have a bottle and solids at 12 and then I will try to have him back in bed by 1.30pm at the latest, most days if I leave him chatting to himself he is normally out of it by 2 and then will sleep till 4ish.
Do you feed her at 5am? If Spencer wakes up before 7 (and waking after 7 has only happened twice) then I feed him and put him back to bed, and I go back to bed as well.

Nzpiper that's what plunket had me do when I went to the family centre when Spencer was 3 months cos he would wake after one cycle sometimes happy but sometimes really upset. Was a bit easier then though cos I brought his bassinet into the lounge so I could be right there when he started to stir. Was hard work but after a few weeks he was able to settle himself between cycles.
Spencer started waking twice a night again at 5 months and plunket said that they go through big developmental changes at that age and that they may just need extra cuddles etc till they settle down again, so it could just be that that is disturbing his day sleeps.

I did think it must be some growth spurt or development or something like that. She has been on solids for almost 2 months now but I just tried today to give her breakfast aswell (she was sleeping fine with just 2 meals before) and she had about 2 teaspoons before getting full, so that could be something too. I will try different things and see what works...

Could it be that she know you are moving so is also a little stressed with that?

Also the heat??
