I know I'm not supposed to worry but I consulted google and now I am. I got a faint positive test on Sat afternoon but on tues my hcg was only 24!
I'm concerned it is a chemical pregnancy.
The doc said it is just very early on but if it is that early then it must mean my cycle would've been 30 days or so long and mine are never that long.
She said I can have another test in a week or 2 if I wish to but at the time I said I wasn't worried but now I am.
Anyone had hcg this low? My hcg with Elle was so high at 12 dpo that they thought I was having twins

I've never had my HCG tested (that I know of) so don't know what its like getting the numbers like that. Can you maybe push to get another blood test done tomorrow??

Don't worry too much about it. Have you had another test to see if the results double? Hcg levels vary with each person and each pregnancy, but as long as the results double on the 2nd test then things are fine

She said I could have one in a week but by tomorrow it'll be 3 days since the last one so maybe I could ask for one? I'm was 100% calm but am now a bit nervous acutally.

Remember google isn't always your friend. I would ring tomorrow and ask to get another blood test done for your own peace of mind

When I had my test, the nurse told me my hcq was 'quite low' but I never asked for the number as I didn't want to google it and worry. Everything so far has been OK here.
I'd say get another test for a peace of mind.

morning google is a shocker! even though I say I wont I always end up googling and get all worried!!!
dont stress too much apparently its the second number that counts the levels are meant to double every 2 or three days?? so you should be able to have a test today all the best I use to have hcg level checks at the start of my pregnancy and I live rurally and I use to get my bloods back by the next afternoon if I kept ringing and hounding the poor nurses! maybe ring monday

Emma just sent me a link to a NZ page and it said that at 12 DPO the range is 2 to 208 with the median of 38 so that makes more sense. At 24 mines lower than average but certainly not the lowest.
Perhaps my cycle would've been longer than I thought (afterall I hadn't been tracking them) and I was only 12 DPO rather than 14 as I thought.
Hmmm. I hope so! Wow this is a scary business huh!

Ahh yes google, its the devil I have in the past worried myself sick over things google have said.
I would trust your doctor and try not to worry just yet as it is early.
They are supposed to test every 2 days cos it rises every 2 days, so I would definitly ask for another test, that way you can see if its rising.
Good Luck :)

Spoke to nurse and doctor and they said they won't retest for a week. Not sure why was I thought hcg doubles or so every couple of days but they are insistent that they don't retest until a week is up unless the level is outside the normal range or very very low. I guess that's a good sign.
I'll just have to MAKE myself relax

Fiona I wouldnt worry too much, I mean can you imagine the amount of people who have never known their HCG levels (including Becks) and continued on with a normal pregnancy. I only knew mine as I was able to access them at work. this caused me a load of stress too as mine were low for dates and I started freaking out. Had more blood tests and they werent doubling so the MW said I might miscarry. Of course I had Alize so no major worries but it goes to show if I didnt have that information I would hve been none the wiser and alot less stressed.
Big hugs luv and enjoy being pregnant!!

I think my cycle was just longer than I thought and that the low level was just 'cause I was only about 12 DPO rather than 14 as I though. Since my doc wouldn't retest until next week I got a cheapo test from the supermarket that only detects HC over 50 and it was a clear positive so although it's no guarantee it is a good sign.

Mine was only 37 at 15dpo with this pregnancy, like Yummy Mummy the nurse told me it was 'very low' but I demanded to know the # then freaked out that it was too low coz mine was 250-something at 14dpo with the gremlins. But it doubled fine and here I am at 15 weeks.

This left side pain is driving me bonkers. I used to have it all the time but when I pregnant with Elle it settled down but now it is back with a vengance...constant stinging ache on the lower left side. Since I've had it before I presume it is fine.

Yup, I had it with the gremlins too. I even convinced myself, and the GP, that it was an ectopic pregnancy and had a scan at 5 weeks to rule it out. Talk about paranoid! Looking back now I can't believe how stupid I was - or how looooong that first 2-3 weeks from when you find out to when you can see the heartbeat on a scan are!

Remember it is possible to Ov twice in a month so you might have conceived a couple of days later with with Elle. Hope all goes well.

Fiona, I had low HCG in my last pregnancy too, so I have a reasonable idea of how consuming the worry can be! My outcome wasn't the best, but what I learnt from the experience is that there really is a gigantic range with HCG levels.
I had literally about 20 women either PM me or post to me about their low HCG and then their going on to have a successful pregnancy.
My point is to try not to worry about it. I know it's hard and I am probably a hypocrite for saying this, but a positive attitude is fantastic.
The other great thing is that no-one gets frustrated when you post here and ask questions. Everytime I was worried, I told others here of my worry and I got a bucket of supportive posts back. Sometimes it's what carried me through to the next day.
The fact that you are getting a clear positive on your tests sounds like a great thing to me (I was the opposite) so fingers crossed for a successful 8 more months in the September thread together!!!
PM me if you want to chat about anything.

Thanks :)
It's really ok. That can be the prob with these sites. If you say your worried people think "oh here we go, someone stressing over nothing" and it's not like that at all. It's just a small niggly worry, not an OMG the world is ending worry :)
Oh! Baby is great in that way as everyone is really lovely but it's not so on some other forums. I'm always cautious to post questions just in case someone misinterprets them but at the end of the day more heads are better than one so it's good to ask.
I'm not worried at all today as I've got my head around it all, worked out my cycles were 30 days and hence I was only 12 dpo when the test was done. My bbs are REALLY sore today (not bigger though which is unfair as I NEED bigger!!! LOL) and I'm feeling a bit tired so all good signs :) Just so happy to be preggers!
I think part of it was that it happened so easily and I'm used to having a long slow road to pregnancy so it almost seemed to good to be true. :)

Glad you're quite happy with everything. I am a bit of a stresshead - am just trying my best to take it easy this time.

I havent noticed any posts insinuating that in this thread, from what I have read and posted myself people are supporing you and letting you know how common it is to have low HCG levels. More than anything I think its others wanting to help you not worry too much.
SOrry if you have read the posts differently and taken them other ways.
