For those of you whose babies have had the BCG jab, how long did it take for the scar to go away? Ella had hers done early Oct and the scar is still quite prominent- doesn't seem to bother her, just bothers me looking at it.

BCG is a jab for TB- babies whose parents (either 1 or both) come from pacific or asian counties are offered it for free. DH comes from the Phillipines, so we were eligible for it....we had it done, as we will probably take Ella there to visit his Family when she is a little bit older. The jab is at the top of the arm, so if she wears singlets who can see it.

Oh, we had this done with Jake in Japan - and he still has the scar sorry. In fact many of my japanese friends still have the scar. you could try bio-oil?

In Japan they have like a grid of needles (9) that they punch in twice. Nasty looking.

I think most adults still have the scar (like a little indent) from when they had it as kids when it was given routinely.

All my kids had a BCG as it is offered to all children of Maori, Asian or polynesian decent. I cant remember with my girls how long it took to go away but Alize was about 4mths when the final scab peeled off and now he just has a tiny red mark. My girls have no sign of theirs at all.

Thanks- I will wait for the scar to go down and see what it looks like. I don't mind if there is small scar there, but at the moment it is looking quite red and a couple of days ago pus starting coming out (which I understand is normal).

Glad ella had in here, rather than in Japan- don't think I could handle 9 needles Lizzle
