is getting a bit more breathless normal? I woke up at 430am(my new wake up time) and felt a bit panicky (I often do in the middle of the night..no idea why) anyway normally i turn over and go back to sleep and I'm fine but i could still breathe fine but felt breathless(does that make sense) I've had it a few times with this pregnancy when lying on back too long but not normally at sleeping time..i sat up and then i was fine and then slowly went back to sleep..if it happens again will mention to midwife(shes ringing tomorrow) but just wondered if it's normal to be a bit more breathless...kinda felt like asthma but still able to breathe fine..

I am measuring at 28 cm(last week) and I'm really 26 and a half(ignore the ticker) ..

Yeah my breathlessness kicked in around week 28 and I've really noticed it in the last week. I'd say it's normal as you're getting a bit more squished internally and I did notice it when I slept in a bad position.

Sounds exactly the same - you can breathe fine but you feel you have to make a huge effort.

I think it gets better when the baby drops but I'm still getting it - mind you I seem to have got a bit more used to it lately (if that makes sense)

That is one thing that I have not experienced this time around, lack of breath, maybe as I am carrying all this extra fluid, bubs has more room to move around in? Hang in there, it's not that nice aye.

Do you have asthma kawwww? If yes, it could be that playing up. My doctor did say that pregnancy can make it worse (not always). I have asthma and do notice that I get a bit like how you describe when I haven't been taking my preventer and as soon as I start up on it again it comes right.

Yeah cos the baby is getting bigger now, it will be pushing on your lungs a wee bit... when the baby drops in the last few weeks it should get better

Hi I couldn't be asked to read everything, i'm far too lazy. But you shouldn't lay on your back it constricts a vein and that could be what is making you feel weird. Is best to lay on your left side. If you find you wake up on your back try placing a blanket to tilt you, doesn't have to be much just enough that you are not flat on your back.
Is normal to get slightly breathless and to get puffed out more easily as bubs is taking up the room where your lungs use to live, and it will be relieved slightly when baby engages

i never normally lie on back for long periods...it happened twice when i was watching tv for about 30 mins..so i turned over..as far as sleeping i always sleep on the left or right side(mw said either) and try to make it my left and when i woke up was sortof scruched up on left side..maybe i should be using my body pillow:)

Yes it should get better when the baby drops... but they drop down onto your bladder, so you really can't win!

Hey Kawwww, I had this with all 3 pregnancies! But it never got better throughout the pregnancy. Also your heart has to beat more in order to get the oxygen around you & your baby, so this causes breathlessness as well. I would find that making my bed would make me puffed, lifting the washing basket with clothes it & walking out to the washing line all made me breathless.

So it is normal, but you could mention it to your MW, see what she says. I would tell mine, but unless it's so severe that you REALLY can't breathe, there's nothing they can/will do.

I got this real bad with Jack but not really with Caprece. I found that wearing bras or tops with shelf bras that were too tight made it heaps worse.

Hi Kawwww, I mentioned in the Feb forum.  but I'm getting it too.  I saw MW last week and asked her about it.  I wake up and feel like I can't fill my lungs properly and she said it is probably the way I am lying and where the baby has situated itself.  I've found if I stand up I can fill my lungs better and then I just go back to sleep.  it is a pain though.  Waking up for pee's all the time and now this.  I'm still finding at times I wake on my back which I asked her about and she mentioned that soon it would be too uncomfortable and I would find that my body will just know not too, but to get up slowly if I have been on my back.  The vein that can be blocked can make you dizzy.

I'm sure I'll be ridiculous with the camera when he's finally here:) It seems like time is finally passing a little faster!!

Verena- I am never on my back but am in weird positions when I wake up so that makes sense..and I do kinda leap up to pee maybe I should go slowly.. good to know I'm not going crazy or imagining it.. at least i don't wake up till 430am these days...lol ..better than every four hours

That'll change in a couple of weeks and you will be peeing every ten minutes again. Oh and you might get leg cramps too, they were my favourite.

ok I'm not allowed to cut and paste the same msg twice to had to write something up the top:)

woohoo... i rang the midwife..and she rang me back..in 2 mins:) yah ...heaps better:) she said that the pains (had some pain up top of bump yesterday ) are likely to be just stretching pains(i thought gas pains) as if they were something else they wouldn't have gone away she said...

and she said that the breathlessness can be a result of anemia so to keep an eye on it but to hold off till after my blood tests in a few weeks..unless it happens again.. but it could also just be everything growing and stretching and getting bigger..
