I've had a couple of comments from 'well meaning' types that Sam has a lazy eye. In some photos I can see what they mean as sometimes his right eye is slightly pointed down and to the centre. I don't know if this is my imagination or it is actually a lazy eye.
We had him checked fairly early on as his father has a slightly lazy right eye too. Should I get him checked or should I just leave it? Not really sure what to do. |

| To check you just need to look and see if light reflects off the same parts of both eyes, if its different then id get him checked |

hey hon, I've got a really bad lazy eye and have had 5 ops to get it pretty much straight so am very aware of my kids having one too, so far so good.
there are exercises that you can do that strengthen the muscles. The easiest one is hold Sam's head still and make him move his eyes from side to side by following an object. this wont hurt him if his eyes are not lazy, so no harm in doing this for a few mins every day. This will get eyes work together as a team and keep those muscles behind his eyes nice and strong. When you go to the dr for the 5 month jab's get the dr to have a look and then see if you need a referral to the hospital. Andrew grew out of his (quite common to do), Josh's hasn't been looked out yet. I had one and needed surgery for it but it was never fixed properly. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

Yeah, I think they can check it out pretty early. We were worried Bella might have one (DH had a lazy eye when he was born) as her eyes seemed to look in different directions when she was born, but in the end it was nothing. DH had his fixed twice, once when he was really little and again at age 8 but now you can't even tell he ever had a problem... ------------- http://lilypie.com">

yeah I would say get it checked, better safe than sorry. My 14 month old neice has a lazy eye, the eye specialist put drops in and was able to check her eye for how it focuses and now she has the sweetest pair of tiny glasses you have ever seen. -------------

My DD has a lazy eye which we have had checked out. She can control the eye when she wants to, so they aren't worried about trying to "fix" it. It usually goes funny when she's tired or day dreaming.
