Please, is there any one out there that has experienced this? I have been reading up on it online and having fits right now. I am really scared and not sure what to expect.
I went in for an open clinic appointment last night. The dr. gave me the ultra sound report and when I got home I started looking up the terminology and came across this monochorionic monoamniotic term and have been up all night since obsessing about it.
I am also suffering from hydronephrosis which is my kidney on the left side is backing up.
I don't have a regular appointment until Tuesday.
Please somebody help me sort this out.

Hi! How far along are you? My twins were monochorionic-diamniotic which means they shared a placenta but not an amniotic sac. Sounds like your wee ones are sharing the whole lot!
I wrote some info on chorionicity for OHbaby!, you can find it http://www.ohbaby.co.nz/article.aspx?ContentID=1577 - here . PM me if you have any more questions, and best of luck!
Remember too that Google is not your friend! I spent the entire 7 months that I knew I was having twins obsessing over all the things that could go wrong, I was sure they would be prem, and get Twin to Twin transfusion and it would all be disastrous and yet my girls were literally dragged into the world at 37 weeks weighing close to 7lb each.

We live in a small town so seeing my dr is not really an option. I am thinking about calling the hospital in Edmonton with hopes of contacting somebody who knows what the heck they are talking about. I read the mortality rate is 60% with these types of twins. I miscarried in Nov. of last year that required me to have a D&C with dr thinking I was carrying nultiples as well. I am scared to death that I will lose this preg.
Oh I am 12-13weeks along depending on what measurement you look at.
Thank you for the good wishes...
Wendy

Mono twins are always identical and are not genetic so if you were pregnant with twins when you m/c in November it won't be related to this pregnancy.
Hang on in there, I can totally relate to your situation. I had a devastating m/c after a year of TTC only 6 weeks before I got pregnant with my twins (aka as the gremlins around here) so for my entire pregnancy I was a stressball.
Yes it's true that there is a higher mortality rate with twins in general, and that mono twins are higher risk again, and mono-mono the highest risk, I don't know what the actual statistics are so I'll have to take your word for it that there is a 60% mortality rate (but remember, Google is not your friend!) but that still means that 40% of mono-mono twin pregnancies are just fine.
Maybe go to the Community section of OHbaby! and track down the Ask The Experts page, you can then submit a question to our obstetric expert Dr Anil Sharma. I'm sure if you explain your fears etc. he will be able to offer you some good, accurate advice. I can highly recommend him, he works in practise with my OB and I have several friends who have been patients of his.

i would wait till tuesday and your regular appointment -emma is right panicking now wont help and google is NOT your friend. and three more days isnt going to harm anything.
when you have your appointment they may have specialists they can refer you to and lots more info that is more reliable than google. take a deep breath, try and relax and have faith in the medical profession.

Hi Wendy, I haven't a clue about twins sorry but I have had a pg after a m/c and you're right, it's really worrisome and every little thing can set off the emotions! Hang in there, if you've made it to 12 weeks then you probably have much higher chances than 60%
