Is there such a thing as a false positive?
or three false positives if the line gets fainter every time you test?

Oh believe me, I will!

I thought maybe things were more diluted with the second and third 'cos I was sculling water to make more pee so I could test again Not sure if that's scientifically correct though!

Hmm would it get fainter because your urine was more dilute with the subsequent tests perhaps? Like if you used First Morning Urine for your first test you might get a stronger response

I don't know really why it would get fainter but I wouldn't think it was a false positive. I'd say if the line is there (especially 3 times) it is a positive result

My positive line was very faint to begin with... I ended up testing 6 times And even then it took a 7th at the doctor before I believed it! Yeah I'd say it was fainter cos your pee was more diluted.

you dont get a false postive because the test only reacts to the pregancy hormone you can only have false negative because their may not be enouth hormone in your urine to show a postive.

There are no false positives only false negitaves, which i had (although in my case i just didn't read the instructions and it was positive, just took longer to develop than i thoght it did)

Congratulations

Hi,
As long as you have a line in the control window then the test has performed correctly. If you get a positive whether bright or faint it is a positive. However some test kits do state that if you read the window outside of the suggested timelines then the results cannot be guaranteed.

Actually you can get a false positive if you read the test a long time after you are supposed to read it due to the reagents in the test.

However if it's a line, however faint, after the 2mins or whatever it's definately positive!!! My hubby made me do another one when I got home and told him - don't think he believed me! 3 positives is DEFINATELY a positive, which is what your GP has proved yaaaay!
