processed cheese slices?? My safe food book mentions all the hard cheeses and not to eat the soft ones which I already knew but no where does it mention processed cheese?  I have some in the fridge for the kids and I REALLY want to eat some lol.  Does anyone know?  Thanks!!

As far as I'm aware all NZ cheese is pastuerised, so not a huge issue in terms of bugs.

I eat soft cheese, but only on the day its opened as the bugs grow in the warmer temperatures, so when you put it back in the fridge and eat it later is when you have issues.

I think its OK. It's the brie abd blue cheese and (for some reason) feta that not OK.

Yeah I've been eating heaps of processed cheese slices and wedges - have had a real thing for them. They are fine I think its just the mouldy cheeses (brie, blue vein) that have been sitting around for a while that might pose a risk - like the ladies above have said.

I ate any cheese while pregnant. All cheese in NZ by law has to be pastuerized. It's cheese that has been left out for a while that isn't ok.

What about sheep's milk feta? It's the only cheese I eat as I'm lactose intolerant...

Hey, basically read th labels, all cheeses needed to be made from pasturised milk to be sold in New Zealalnd Pre July 2007, Post July 2007 some cheeses can be imported that are not made from pasturised milk,  I am not sure how many have hit the shelves yet but imagine they will be higher end cheeses.

as long as the milk is pasturised its fine, they do say to eat them within 2 hours of them being served, it  basically means you have to scoff the lot
