Hi all,
I thought it only fair to let you know where my discussion with DH had got to after my previous post (see How did you manage to convince him..?) Well...all the times we set aside for talking about this got swept away in a major family drama (result of that = we are no longer having anything to do with certain members of his family...long and horrid story), but after things calmed down a little I tried to broach the subject again. To be greeted with..."I thought we'd agreed to try in May?"... What the?? I was just putting some dates/months out there and thought that nothing had been decided. But is seems that a lot of the posters to my previous post had been right...he just needed time to get his head around it. There was nothing I could have said or done...he just needed time. So we have decided that I will go off BCP at the end of next month to give my body a bit of a break (been on it for 15 years now!) and then we will TCC in May 2008. Now it's a little more real I'm both excited and terrified. But glad that we managed to get this sorted! Thank you to all of those who posted and welcomed me to this forum. I will be reading (and maybe posting) between now and May - as I'm now so addicted and feel like I know some of you already! Have a great day! Sun is shining here in Christchurch. |

Shame about your families, unfortunately you can't always choose them. Me will be married by then, and coming up to my 35th b'day so TTC time for us as well. Yay! Men aye, they're a bit slow sometimes, it took my DH a while of yes and no before he actually decided for real. Great to take a break from the pill, I took 10 months off and finally got AF after not really ever having it, and managed to get knocked up pretty much straight away!
Looking forward to hearing from you more on here in the future |

thats great news. Just be careful with the whole giving your body a break thing. We did that and planned ot start trying after our wedding thinking after being on teh pill for so long it woudl take ages to actually get pregnant etc.... but it happened straight away and i was 3 months pregnant at our wedding!

Fleury - yep, be seeing you 'round these boards I hope! Sharne - Hi right back! Hope you have luck TTC this cycle (and a wee passenger on board for your wedding!). my2angels - LOL. Yes, well, we have a reputation with our friends as the 'double baggers' because I have ALWAYS used two forms of contraception (because nothing was 100% effective I thought I didn’t want to be the 0.001% that actually got accidentally pregnant!)...so, no worries there, we'll still be using something else

On the whole giving the body a break thing, but my GP said it wasn't necessary with the modern pills, and that I only needed to stop a month before I was ready.
Not sure if this is correct, or may depend on the type of prescription you are on. He did recommend getting a blood test - to make sure there's nothing to worry about. ------------- http://lilypie.com" rel="nofollow"> [/url] Angel June 2012 |

| Fleury - it really depends on what you were like before you went on the pill. I was never regular (as in non-existent) before going on the pill, and when I came off it 10 months before we TTC, it took 8 months to get AF and then all of a sudden it became relatively regular. You just never know. Better to come off early and use another form so you can learn what your body's like without the pill incase there are problems. |

It was a pre-natal test - covered things such as diabetes, rubella, etc. I didn't actually have it done in the end, my weight is my biggest barrier to healthy pregnancy at the moment.

See my GP didnt say anything about needing a blood test when i told him we were ttc, he just gave me folic acid and told me to have lots of sex haha.
i wonder if its because its the same dr i've had since i was little so he just knows i'm up to date. might have to ask him. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Boys definitely take their time with it. DH told me recently (we've been down the TTC road now for well over 2 years) that it's only really in the last 6 months that he's gotten used to the idea!

My Df get more and more used to it everyday and spending time with our friends and their children helps!

Fleury - glad that you're regular! When I had a couple of months of the pill it came too, but sometimes for people like me that's just because you've been on the pill so long, it still thinks its supposed to come (just like how some people get spotting when they choose to skip periods when on the pill).
Ezza, I'm the same as you, wasn't told to get blood tests done as I've had the same GP since I was 2. If you're not sure though, they will get it done. Just another one of those things to keep in mind |

I have a different doctor now than when I was a kid but my files got transferred and I guess that's why I wasn't referred for bloods (for rubella imms check). Since then I've seen a note in my Plunket book to say that I had my imms done anyway. -------------  |
