I think I might have PND. My mw is concerned and is probably going to send me to my GP.
I'm not very good at talking to people about that sort of thing and hate to admit there's a problem, usually I just get through things on my own without telling anyone, but she noticed I was a little down.

I'm not interested in eating, I make an effort but it doesn't bother me if I go without breakfast and lunch.
I'm feeling really down and crying alot and also yelling at DH alot.
I'm not wanting to go out anywhere, its all just too much effort.
I also have difficulty concentrating. I'm finding that I'll walk around the supermarket in a daze, not knowing what I want.
I feel like I'm being a terrible mother to my first DD, I just put the tv on all day and let her do her own thing.

I really wish I wasn't feeling this way. I think I might of had some depression after my first child but I just kept it to myself and didn't talk to anyone.
I'm not going to go on any medication either, so I don't know what else they can do for me. What other ways are there of managing it.

I know I'm not the only one, but right now I'm feeling like the worst mother in the world. I'd love some reassurance that I haven't done anything wrong.

It does sound like PND to me.

If you trust your GP I would go to them. If you can't talk to them maybe write it down and get them to read it.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Of course you haven't done anything wrong, and you're not the worst mother in the world - I have dibs on that one!

Bear in mind too that it is very early days, Haylie is only a couple of weeks old and so what you are feeling could just be an extension of the baby blues. I do think that having a chat to your GP is a good idea, it'll help get things out there, and he or she might have some practical suggestions to help you. There are a lot of alternatives to meds too, Kellz has been trying some natural remedies like acupuncture and altering her diet so if you're interested I'm sure she'd have more info.

I felt all those things you listed and more, as time went on
It is really good that its picked up early, good on you for speaking out.
Just having a chat with your GP and midwife may be all you need. A problem shared is a problem halfed and all that.
Like Emma said, it is very early days, and once things settle down you may feel a lot better too.
Im sure there arent many 2nd+ time mothers who arent guilty of usuing tv as a babysitter a lot at first,..hell Im guilty of it and I only have 1!

Yep there are alternatives to meds, and other therapies including counselling and cognitive bahavioural therapy that can works wonders alongside meds, or without them too.
Getting a balanced diet, drinking water, and taking the girls for a wee walk outside around the block each day is something proactive and really effective you can do to help yourself. It may take a tremendous effort, but do try and make looking after yourself a priority. Going for a walk together will be good for the girls too!

Thanks, I really need to get out, a walk sounds like a great idea. I just don't want to do anything, but I will just have to push myself.
I don't know how I'll go talking to my GP, I find it so hard. I even found it really hard talking to my MW but glad that she brought it up otherwise nothing would have been said.

I found it really hard too,...mostly cos it was so hard to explain how I felt, and I didnt think I felt 'depressed'.

It is incredibly hard to get going and do the stuff u know will help you, especially when u are so sleep deprived and exhausted on top of everything else.

You could ask you midwife for a referral letter so she can explain to your GP what u have talked about/ what she has observed,..and use that as a starting point to talk to your Dr. Or you could say that u just arent feeling right, and u just need someone to talk about it all to.

You dont have to walk far at all, just start by going around the block! I promise it will help! Or go to a park and go for a walk there.
