Topic: Pet Hate? Posted: 12 May 2008 at 7:14pm |
Ok, so since about 12 weeks pregnancy my husband's bird has taken to hating me with a passion!!! He is usually calm and quiet and only bites gently but not anymore! He really goes nuts at me and bites my fingers really hard and will lunge at my face given the chance!!
Anyway, My friend who is also preg has found that her old cat who has always been lovely to her has also turned nasty. Bitey and scratchy!
Does anyone else find this with some animals? Just curious

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Hmmmm thats really strange! The only stories Ive heard about pets is that they become more friendly lol.
My kitty is just acting normal towards me....we did get rid of our bird though, we donated him to the local bird park as he was SO loud and grumpy.

My little girl cat has definately become more friendly, she was never a lap sitter but in the evening after she has eaten now she likes to sit on my legs - which is cute as she is still tiny even though she is a year old.

We had my husband's bosses' cat staying with us both times I was preggers and he was the opposite. He was really overly friendly and always wanted to sit on me and snuggle up to my belly. It was really funny a couple of times later on, he got booted really hard by bubs and jumped up looking round like 'WTF?? Who kicked me!?"

Maybe its just birds who become pg haters
My 2 kitties wont leave me alone... I actually noticed that before my sore boobies! My girl cat actually follows me all around the house miawing. Its like shes have a chat.
Our dog has taken to randomly flopping his head on my lap whenever the thought strikes him. By lap, I mean my tummy. Its like he is saying hello to the baby. Its sooo cute!

Actually that reminds me, when I was very early on (would have been about 1 week after conception) my boss brought her wee dog into work and he was really excited to see me, usually he just ignores me, that was also one of my first clues.
My dog hasn't changed at all.

My cats have definately been more cuddly since I got pregnant - the boys in particular. They love snuggling round my tummy and have also been booted by bubs. Their expressions were so funny. My dog is following me around a lot more and now I'm getting closer she's checking up on me heaps. Yesterday she was outside enjoying the sunshine but every few minutes she would pop back in to check that I'm ok. I feel so loved.

I've had my cats got closer to me last time I was pg and our lab was really protective of me and would let people he didn't know very well(like my mum)hug me, he would either stand between us or bark like crazy, it was really funny actually

My cat also gets very affectionate when Im preggy. She wants to constantly sit on my lap, cuddle me and follows me around the house all day. She also likes to sleep on my face first thing in the morning - my wake-up call. She also doesnt mind when she is booted when she sits on my lap or tummy.
Our dog hasnt noticed yet - but is more DH's rather than mine.

That's so funny. When I had my first two we had a cat that stalked me around the house and would pounce on me occasionally.....all through my 2nd trimester of both pregnancies. I'd turn around and he'd be behind me, he'd suddenly start washing himself or playing with something as if to say 'I wasn't really following you'....it used to freak me out!! The two cats we've got now don't seem to have changed behaviour at all.

My flatmates dog gets a regular boot up the bum as he runs around under my feet whenever I'm walking anywhere in the house. Hopefully I'll be out of there before it becomes a real hazard - when I can't actually see him at all!

My two dogs have become really protective, wont let strangers near me at all.
We moved in to a house that was previously tenanted and the previous tenant knocked on the door and just walked in. Lucy (my girl dog) forced him out the door and made him wait outside until I waddled down the stairs to see who it was. She stayed between me and the tenant the whole time and woudl not let him move any closer.
Made me feel very safe, I know no one can brake in while she is around
