My lovely boy is 2 months old, and is going to bed well at 7:30pm each night. He then wakes at 11:30 EVERY night, out of habit I think. He is not hungary at this time as I try feeding him and he is not really interested. How can I get him to settle back to sleep so that he sleeps longer and wakes when he is actually hungary?

What happens if you leave him for a while? Will he settle back down, or does he wake crying and needing attention?

How much, if anything, does he drink when you feed him? Perhaps offer a small amount of water, so he'll realise he's not going to get milk if he wakes.

Is he warm/cool enough?

Hmmmm, I agree with what MamaPickle said.

and..

My boy is just about 3 months old and what we do is, put him down for a sleep at round 5 or 5.30, he wakes at round 8ish usually, then he has a bottle(usually drinks 100mls) then a play, a bath and massage and then another play, then by then its usually round 9 or 9.30 and he will have another 100mls and then bed, and he sleeps right through until 7amish.
Ever since we have done this rountine(since he was 2 months old) he has slept through

my boy has only just started sleeping through the night...i think the key is learning the cries.....i leave him if i know he is throwing a hissy but most of the time he cries cause he had a dream.....he jsut needed a quick cuddle then back down........also Ty started teething at 3mnths but they never pushed through until 10mnths even the docs saw how much pain he was in................hangin there...just a matter of finding out what the reason is.

The one time I left my boy to cry at that time he wound himself into a tizz and would not settle down again - I think he is waking lonely and cannot resettle himself - I will try the cuddle and put him back down idea tonight. With some shusshing and soothing maybe.

I also like the alternative bedtime routine noted, we will try that one as well to see if he sleeps better through the night.
