Mums across New Zealand are giving their babies the best start in life. And now they’re showing it on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtul-k8zok8, featuring photos of mums breastfeeding their babies against a backdrop of Kiwi landmarks.

The stunning shots of mums doing what comes naturally were all entrants in the national breastfeeding campaign’s photo competition last summer. Check out all the entries on their Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/breastfeedingnz. Now do your part in giving Kiwi babies a great future by sharing this link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtul-k8zok8) with your friends and families. Let’s put breastfeeding on the map!

Thanks its great to see something so positive.

I must admit that I have seen some of the discussion from the facebook site and wondered what it was all about. I was a little shocked by some if the members comments i.e. "whenever I I see someone bottle feeding mum I think you selfish person". I think you have to walk in someone else's shoes before you can be so judgemental. Although I support "breast is best" the number one thing IMO is that Mums and Bubs are happy.

On the positive though I love all the feedback that showed how so many mums had has struggles with breastfeeding, made me feel a little less alone.

Hi Millymollymandy,
I do agree with you: the number one thing is that Mums and babies are healthy and happy. Formula is a great invention for mothers who can not breastfeed, or find it very difficult, and we have to support all mothers to raise their babies the best they can... my opinion. Lucia

I do agree about the site being a bit judgemental...
I believe a mother should do what is best for herself and baby. Some women can't breast feed while others have no problems breast feeding!
Although, when I hear a person is formula feeding I do wonder why, but I understand that obviously it was the best choice for them.
I was a formula fed baby and my mum tried very hard to breast feed me but realised we were both happier formula fed.
I am really pleased I can breast feed my baby and we are both enjoying it!

However it's a beautiful video and I breast fed my baby under the trees in late summer when she was a week old and it was just the most amazing feeling in the world, having a gentle breeze blowing, just relaxing in the shade...
I like the one of the two women on the chairs in the water and the one on the tractor!! And the lady from Southland at the beach...!!

I'm very much a supporter of breastfeeding but do understand that some people can't for one reason or another and that is fine. But I agree that some people are very quick to judge. I'm not comfortable breastfeeding in public so often when we go out, I take a bottle of EBM with me if I know there will be nowhere to BF discreetly and people scowl at me when I give Isla the bottle, assuming its formula! If only they knew!

The video made me realise how beautiful this country is all over again and didn't those women look fanstastic. I struggle to BF in public becuase bubba is very nosey and doesn't concentrate. I did manage to feed her at this years WOMAD festival and got joined but two others Mum's was so much fun chatting to them.

I love being able to feed where ever, I hate having to go to parents rooms! I feel so isolated!

I agree with bubba being nosey though! Lily loves to look at the lights!!
