Sucks eh
It's a fairly universal problem! It does get better though
Have bumped a couple of threads for you! (ETA: in the general section)

hey pukeko
i have been in work now sinc Feb and DD been in daycare since beginning of March. She loves it there and seems reluctant to leave when we pick her up! she gets heaps of attention and there is so much going on that she is probably getting a really good start in life.
I have settled back in to work and enjoy using my brain again. (i am not fo rone minute saying SAHMs don't use their brains, but hopefully you know what i mean!) I do miss her, but i have fridays off and we do so much together on our "baby day" as i call it.
She hasn't forgotten who i am - i get big smiles when i come to collect her. Equally she gives her carer big smiles when we get into daycare in the mroning, but i vastly prefer that to having her being upset.
having said all that, i would rather be at home with her and would be if we didn't need my wage, but it has been nowhere near as bad as i thought it would be . . .

I started work in November last year - when Ollie was about 5 months old. I found it really tough to leave him with someone else, although it was slightly easier because DH did the dropping off.
It's taken me several months to settle in to two days of work, and I still have good and bad days. For me, it's easier knowing that I love my work, and he loves day care - it provides him with so much more stimulus than a full week at home with me.
Your baby won't forget who you are, and most go through a period of separation anxiety whether or not they go to daycare.
Just rest assured that you are definitely not alone - I think most mums returning to work wrestle with the issues that come with it.

Thanks so much for the reassurance - and weegee i found those threads you bumped really useful.
I'm sure my DS will be fine. It's gonna be me that's the wreck:)
Kate = like you I really love my job so it's definitely just my anxiety about my little bubs.
Ooh, and Susie glad to hear it's going well for you at work....i was wondering how you were getting on...

Just give yourself permission to feel the way you do too - I felt silly for a while but then realised that he was okay and my feelings were all about me! A few tears, and a couple of months back at work and things feel 'normal'. We have our off days but it definitely is a workable situation for us.

Hey,
I have had to go back to doing casual relief teaching at the moment (as DH has been made redundant and we are really struggling now that we've spent all the crappy redundancy pay he got) - currently waiting for an appointment with WINZ to get some sort of benefit!
Luckily for me, as DH is at home, he is able to look after Lily - and its actually been kind of nice being around other people during the day - and not being on demand 24/7 for Lily.
Your baby will not forget who you are! You're the mummy!!
Is there anyway you can do a couple of days a week to ease into it!?
