I got quotes to move from Palmy to a rural town outside of Palmy (about 30km) and they were around $3k. A couple of friends who've moved Palmy to Hamilton or Palmy to Dunedin were given $5k moving costs by their new employers. So I'm guessing thats the kind of range? All of these were probably 3-5 years out of date though, so maybe they've gone up with petrol prices.
Most places were happy to do free quotes though, and some would give ballpark figures over the phone - enough for me to decide I'd do it myself thanks!!

My Brother & SIL did exactly this not to long ago. I'm not sure of their costs, but ring around a few company's and find out.

We did the reverse move at the start of the year and can't quiet remember but between 3 and 4 thousand. But that was entire house pack, including the fruit bowl and indoor plants being wrapped in paper and boxed (men packers, they arrived dead!) and then everything put in the room we wanted at this end. Good luck for the move am very jealous!

Hehe, agree Peyton's Mum ;) We moved from
Hamilton to Napier about two and a half years ago and used Allied Pickfords to move an entire houseload. They were very good, very careful and thorough. Quite expensive, can't remember exactly but it was over 5k. Luckily, my boss paid for it, phew!!!

We moved from Palmy to Nelson 6 months ago and it cost $5000, of course that would be more expensive because of the water in the middle. We used Crown and would never go there again.
Oh, and don't let them push you into insurance, we checked with our insurance company and our contents were covered under our policy.

We moved from Auckland to Hawkes Bay in April and we used a company called U Move and they were brilliant my FIL was here when they did the unloading and said they were very professional. I think we paid something like $3,000.
