Topic: Mini Push-up and crawling Posted: 14 April 2011 at 4:51pm |
Hi there,
Have a gorgeous 7 1/2 month old. He sits independently (with the occasional tip over backwards when excited) and rolling both ways. He finally loves tummy time (YAY!) and is pushing up on extended straight arms when on his tummy. He is also trying to get his legs up underneath him, but can't manage to both at once, if he moves his legs while up on arms he face plants.
Not really worried, just wondering how long it took your little ones from pushing up on straight arms... to either crawling or up on all fours
Thanks

More out of curiousity than anything, as I know every baby is different. It's just he has been pushing up on straight arms for about a month now, but hasn't really progressed from here

AGES. My daughter was doing the push-up thing around that age too, but she only started commando crawling at 11 months and only properly crawling at 12 months. More of an indicator for crawling for us was when she started doing headstands - it was only about 2 days after she started doing that that she crawled properly.

Hmmmm, it took us a while, I think. She's been able to push herself up on her hands for quite a while (maybe from 5 or 6 months? I can't remember!) but couldn't manage the legs for a while. Then, about two or three weeks ago she started shuffle-crawling backwards, and she's only just now (like, within the last week) started going properly on all fours and crawling forward.

They're all so different, it's hard to tell. Jacob was so keen to get moving he was scrambling all over the place on his tummy well before he got the hang of being on all fours. So he was already kind of moving forward, and he started crawling on all fours pretty much as soon as he could get up on them.

Ages here too... Maybe 1.5 months... She started doing that at maybe 8.5-9mo and crawled Xmas day (after her cousins in fact to chase them!) so I think having something to crawl after helped...

Also ages here. One of my girls has been doing full push ups and rocking on all fours for a couple of months but has only managed to progress to the belly flop forward motion.
ETA: Doesn't stop her getting into everything though!
