Might sound silly but.......

Has anyone else felt reaaaaaaally reaaaally sad about moving house?The ILs have decided to split so to help the family out DF and I are moving into a bigger house so that his mum and 2 younger sisters can live with us while his parents clear their debts. Last week I was excited..looking through the new house..5 bedroom, 2 lounge areas, 2 bathrooms (ensuite in our bedroom)..so enough space for us all...and the living arrangements is set for about 1.5 years. BUT I'm just so sad to be leaving our home. We've been here for 2.5 years, DS has had all his birthdays here. It's our first family home...and I never thought we would leave until we buy our own home. Our LLs are amazing, they let us have this place with no references and no real prior renting experience. They've been more like friends, and allowed us to really make this place our own, and have trusted us so much with their place. I will be eternally grateful to them. Just so sad...had a big ole cry about it last night (reminded me of when I had a big ole cry about not wanting to move to Oz lol). I'm slowly working through the sadness...guess it doesn't help that AFs due lol. I am gonna come drive past the house every so often..that makes me feel good lol.

I can totally relate to this, we've moving to Akl. Dh is already up there, and I'm joining him in October.
We're keeping our house and yesterday I handed the property management over to someone else to look after for us. I felt a bit sad afterwards like I was giving something that is very precious to me to some strangers to look after.

Whilst I'm super excited about moving to Akl and being close to family etc, I will miss our home. Its our first home together and the intent was for it to be our family home. Instead our daughter is going to be living in military housing for the first 3 years of her life.

 

Yip, I always cry when we leave a house. My DH thinks I am nuts.

I haven't cried yet, but have felt sad. When Mum and Dad sold the house that Dad built, and I grew up in (they sold it about 3-4 years ago?), it felt like the end of an era (and the first time they raised the issue I burst into tears and told them they couldn't do it, because it was our house, and it wasn't right - thankfully they waited a few more months so I got used to the idea). I wanted to raise my kids in that house one day (pipe dreams). I'm not sure how I will feel when we sell this house and move. At the moment, I would probably feel relieved, but there are also memories...the girls coming home for the first time, most of their firsts basically....and yeah.
