I use the Picky Pants pattern from Little Turtle Knits

Little Turtle Knits

They are knitted on circular needles and the pattern is fabulous - has heaps of different options for knitting... girlie cuffs, boy cuffs, different waistbands and options for gussets etc.

Hmmm . . . I'd rather not have to pay US$13.00 for a pattern. I'll have a look around for something free I think . . . . .

Oooh, here's one!

I got the Picky Pants one (and was happy to pay the money for it) because it has photo tutes on all the techniques you need to use - which was great for a beginner knitter like me.

And yeah, the Pimpmylongies pattern is Jenny's from TNN. It looks really good knitted up.

There are a few more around - Baby Bell Bottoms is another cute one

Oooooo, you have got my interest. Maybe a blanket (while straight forward) was too much of an ask to begin with. I want to make a jersey for Tom. Know of any good patterns or any free patterns? i can knit, purl, cast on , cast off and increase and decrease (when i ask mum to remind me how)

Book from the library - Simple Knits for Cherished Babies by Erika Knight.

Really great simple and easy baby patterns. I love it!

Knitted this one from the book:
