Topic: Kids camera Posted: 24 November 2010 at 9:36am |
My 3.5 year old is really interested in the camera and I've told him if he does all his poos on the toilet I will tell santa he has been a good boy and santa will bring him his own camera for christmas.
Does anyone have a kids one they would recommend? We've already bought his xmas presents so I dont' want to spend too much but if I know a good brand I can always look second hand on trademe for it.
Thanks

my 4yr old loves camera & takes lots of photos with the kindy camera (real one). We are looking at getting him one also.
We are thinking of giving him a cheap real one as the kids ones are expensive. I wanted one that he can view on the camera as well as download to computer, like this one kids cam1 but not the price tag or this one kids cam2 but don't think they can view on camera with that one...
Think we will go with a real one...cheaper

I've been coveting the Vtech Kidizoom from chalk.co.nz, if only it wasn't so expensive and they had a more unisex version! (I've seen blue ones elsewhere but they were more expensive)

You could always get him a disposable one but risk him getting back a whole bunch of pictures of his fingers.
Otherwise you can get wickedly cheap 'real' cameras on TM and sometimes in stores when they have sales. I got mine new of TM and i payed less then $100 for it.

That Vtech one looks cool, but far too much money, would be ok if we hadn't already bought his main present.
I might look for a cheap real camera, I did think about the disposable one but he likes our one as you can see the display.

If you collect flybuys there's at least one style of kid's camera available in the flybuys rewards for just a few hundred points i think

DS is 7.5 and has got the fisher price one it has been dropped that many times that he won't be getting a real one anytime soon.

We just bought a $50 one for my 4yo nephew from Normal Ross (they had the same ones at Noel Leeming and Bond & Bond, and possibly Harvey Norman too).
It isn't the best camera, the preview scream is absolutely tiny and we kind of wish we had of spent another $50 odd dollars and bought an el-cheapo "real" camera.
My nephew loves it though and has had a ball with it. Was a brilliant idea.
ETA - the photo quality looks pretty average too. We haven't had a chance to get any printed to see what they actually turn out like, but it looks like they are fairly fuzzy. It does however come with software for downloading to the computer, I don't think that's been used yet either though.

That skull one keeps popping up everywhere
Thank you.
I might see if I can get one of those vtech ones second hand and if not I'll buy one of the others. We can always buy him a better one for his birthday if he's still really into it then.

Vtech ones are 2 mega pixels where as the others are 1 or 1.3 so I would imagine the quality being slightly better.

We brought Keira a fisher price camera a couple of years back.
I really wish I had just brought her a regular camera as the photo quality was really poor and the viewfinder didn't show what you were taking the photo of (it would always cut heads off, I even tried and struggled not to) I am not sure if they have a new and improved version out these days....

We never ended up getting one. He took a whole massive leap backwards with the toilet training so no camera.
