Hi folks, I'm a newbie, and I think I might need a little help to get up to speed.

BFP? EWCM? Can someone explain a few of the commonly used acronyms for me?

My partner and I recently got married and are planning to start trying to get pregnant. Unfortunately, I have a few issues I am in the process of getting sorted first (PCOS, I spoke to a specialist today and fingers crossed it should all be sorted in a few weeks).

It's quite overwhelming, not knowing where to start etc. Does anybody have any tips to help me get started?

Thanks heaps!

Welcome to Ohbaby!
BFP= Big Fat Postive (pregnancy test)
BFN= Big Fat Negative
EWCM=Egg White Cervical Mucus!

There is a whole list of what all the abbriviations mean somewhere, will have a look and bump the thread forward for you!

Right have bumped the thread for you its called 'TTC codes 101' and is in the general chat section.

The above thread has just been moved to this section (planning pregnancy) so should be easy to find!

Also check out this thread http://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=24985&PN=1

welcome astral_monkey

I was diagnosed with PCOS less than 3 months ago and am on clomid to help with the ovualtion side of it. We have a thread in the coping with infertility section if you havent already seen it... there is a PCOS thread and a clomid pill popper section that may help support you in TTC. Can I ask what your specialist has reccommended to you?

All the best,
MindyW

Just wanted to add my 2c...I have PCOS with irregular and often long cycles - also had no periods at one point. I wasn't sure how easy it would be for me to conceive but it actually ended up happening quite quickly for us. I found charting really helpful to see exactly what was happening with my cycle.

Hope that gives you some encouragement

Thanks everyone.

I've started charting CM, and am waiting for the thermometer I ordered to arrive so I can chart temperature as well. I mentioned OPK's to DH and he said that is something we can try too. He's being really supportive of trying everything because he knows how badly I want this.

I'm really nervous about hearing what the specialist has to say when my test results come back (Friday). Hopefully we can start moving forward soon.
