I am quite new to all of this. I am 37 and DH is 47. We have 4 boys and after a couple of false alarms in the last 8 months we decided that we would love to try one last time for a girl. Because of our ages though it is now or never.
After doing alot of research and reading alot of message boards I decided that I needed to learn when in my cycle I ov'd. I suspected it was quite early but was not sure. I registered with fertility friend and put a thermometer next to my bed and when my period started on 14th of this month I started recording my temp.
Well so far so good and each day seemed to be on track but not much CM. I knew what to look for but had never paid much attention to it in the past. CD10 and my temp in the morning was quite low. I met a friend in the morning and mentioned it to her. Noticed a slight cramp on one side at lunch time. That afternoon had EWCM.
The next day CM was normal again and have had two quite high temps since. If tomorrows is up then it was definitely OV.
What has surprised me and the reason for telling others about this was how fast it all happened. I keep reading about the signs leading up to OV but in my case there weren't any. I could have missed it so easily. There is only a small window each month where it is possible to get pregnant. How many women are missing it because they are not sure what to look for, are not checking often enough or are ovulating quite early on?

Hi Cinderella, how long are your cycles normally? Charting will more than likely show if you are ovulating, some of us in the charting thread also use OPK's to detect ovulation too, which helps to time things right!

It is a very small window you're right, and after a few months charting it becomes easier to know when ovulation is approaching. Good luck, hope you and your DH get a little girl soon

hey Cinderella
I also have 4 boys and we are now trying for another baby. I dont do charting wouldnt help anyway as my cycles are different every cycle(I cant say every month coz they are longer than that most of the time). but I do get other signs of ov such as ewcm and odd pain on one side and it is always confirmed 14days later with AF or on a few occasions pregnancy. there are times when im not sure if its ov or just me over thinking and then there are days like today I have had ewcm for a few days and today I have had very obvious ov pains. would be perfect timing if this is our month coz I think by fluke we managed to keep bding just far enough to see if shettles works for us. I have read all the meathods but iv never actually bothered with any of them. if it happens this time it is intirely by chance lol. good luck with ttc
