Some great suggestions here!

I do like Oliver... Olivia would have been our girl's name... but not sure I am in love with it. I like Ollie.

With lots I like one or the other (eg the long or the short, but not both)... eg I like Ben but not Benjamin, Dan but not Daniel, Charlie but not Charles, Ritchie but not Richard, Harry but not Harrison, .....

For the vetoes:

I like Dominic, Cameron, Ashton, Nathan, Elijah,... but DH doesn't (Grrrr... men!)
I like Ethan, Liam, Jeremy, Bryce but no short versions
I like Alexander, but it's my stepdad's name and don't want to name bubs after him
Zachary and Jackson no good (Zac & Jack)
Don't want anything with 'son' on the end (Jackson)
Michael no good (Michael/Jackson)

Here would be my list so far (that we agree on):
* Oliver
* Thomas

Only two!! And neither I am totally in love with.

This is so hard!! I had girls names totally sorted.

That sounds like us, there's a few names we like, but none that we love. I'm even slightly starting to doubt our girl name too. There seem to be a few good websites but they're tiresome to look at! I'll keep your asks in mind when I start looking again, but I have promised myself I won't til after the scan. =)

hey kiwi I was the same as you - like lots of shortened versions... we went with Harry. Not Henry or Harrison, just Harry. Haven't regretted it!

with our second child i told my husband he could name him... after several months he came to me and said we were going to call him toby francis - francis after his grandad. i thought oh, not what i would have chosen, but i did say he could do it. in the end it really grew on me and i cant imagine him being anything other than toby!

If I was going more traditional with my names I really like Samuel (Sam) and Joesph (Joe). Clean simple and strong. My ultimate was Sebastien (Seb) but DH really hated it.

DS1 has a long name that we have shortened and I wanted the same for number 2 but gave up and he now has a name that can't be shortened at all. Its actually works.

Andrew - can be Andy or Drew (althou I have an Andrw and he does not like it shortened)
Dominic is nice too.
William
Jeremy can be shortened to Jer, or as we call out friend Jermy

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Jeremy can end up as 'Jerry' too, I don't really like that.

I like Nathaniel - Nate for short.

I tend to make my kids names longer tho haha so I have Ethan Peethan, Erynn Merin, and Violette Piolet heh

If you like a shortened version of a name why not go with it? Do you HAVE to have a long and short version?

I like William but probably not William Winter.

Joshua or Jacob?

oops, just remembered you didn't want another J name.

Bizzy, I was the driver behind calling JJ Jackson, so part of me almost thinks DH can name this one. If I say that, I know we'll end up with Joshua....

I guess I would be ok with that. Don't really want another J name, but at least then one of us would be fully satisfied!!!

For girls, it was either going to be:
Olivia Jasmine or Katelyn Jasmine

As for the long/short thing, I would prefer that just because I like the choice it gives the child later on.
