hang over cot bassinets

Has anyone used the bassinets you can get that you hang from the sides of a normal sized cot?

We only have a small room for the baby and was thinking about this option seeing as there have been a few comments on here about babies not always needing their bassinets for too long, so was really trying to kill two birds with one stone space wise (and probably $$ wise as well!).

Any comments appreciated!

ours is one but I never ended up using it in the cot, only on the stand. This was because I would have it in the lounge during the day (it was a cold winter!). But, if Lily had've stayed in it longer then we probably would have done that. And it all folds up totally flat - great for storing for the next one

We have the cariboo one and have it on the stand so we can move the bassinet around the house. I don't think we'll use it in the cot, I don't really see the point- I don't get why you just wouldn't put them in the cot straight away and save the money??

I ws originally going to put Lil straight in the cot, but she looked so tiny in it when she was a newborn! When I was still in the hospital I sent DH out to buy the bassinet
Farmers will have a sale Labour weekend and nursery furniture usually goes about 30% off (if you aren't due before then!)

We have the cariboo and had it in the cot. It was good as my baby had reflux and so you can raise one end up a bit which helps them sleep better. Also if you need to settle them you can rock it in the cot. Plus when you move them into the cot it is no big deal because they've already been staring at those bars for ages and so it's not a big change.   
We took it away with us lots too and just put in on a bed with pillows up around the sides so he thought they were up like normal. Babies that age can't roll so it was safe as houses and easy.
